Congrats and welcome aboard! For what it's worth I've been on short call reserve for 6+months and 70% of the time they call me, they have given me well over 3 hours notice. That said, living in SAN you wouldn't be able to make a 2 hour callout. The parking/airport process takes an hour.
Be sure to update us on the indoc class size!

If your drive to lax is three hours or something do not count on getting that much time to report. If you refuse to get a place to stay near lax you need to just stage yourself. Drive half way then park it in a Starbucks or something. If you are counting on the good fortune of scheduling you will get butt banged.

That'll work. I know someone who once made his 2 hour VX call-out in SFO in his Cirrus from Hawthorne. Just have the plane preflighted and fueled. And as others have said, it's unlikely you'll have to sit reserve more than 4-6 months. Welcome aboard!

And be sure to tell Jet Center you are crew. They gave me $15 a night parking vs the $30 public price.

I think that is referencing a situation where you are awarded upgrade but then they do not run a class before the month of your award not specifically allowing right seat qualified CA.
Example:
Pilot A is awarded a December upgrade class. The company gets a lot a volunteers to fly as right seat qualified Captains, so they delay the upgrade class a few months.
In the above example, the pilot would be flying as a FO in December, but would be paid as a CA due to the date of his award passing.

You begin being paid CA after you pass your LOE, so this scenario won't apply.

I have a few questions about being a junior FO at Compass (QOL, pay, domicile, etc). If anybody can give me some information I would greatly appreciate:
The Compass website says Phoenix is opening in 2017. Will it be feasible for a junior FO to get domiciled in PHX?
How long does it currently take to get off reserve?
What is the commuter policy like?
What is the realistic upgrade to captain in the E170/E190?
Thank you for any replies in advance, much obliged.

My apologies, I forgot to ask if it is feasible to work extra and do about 80 to 90 hours a month, picking up drop trips, etc?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

PHX is only going to be about 30 crews. As for a new hiring getting it, you might get it out of training or it could go senior and take some time. It's really anybody's guess, I think we probably have 30 ca/fo that commute to LA from PHX I would imagine, worst case scenario you could expect some time commuting to LA and would get PHX eventually, even if it goes "Senior" keep in mind "senior" at Compass is very relative with our high attrition, you can get senior pretty quick. That said PHX will probably be the cheapest base, those do tend to go a bit more senior because SEA/LAX are expensive to live in. Commuter policy requires you to have 2 flight options that will get you in time. In reality not really an issue unless you're continually missing commutes, but as long as you're commuting responsibly they'll work with you. Realistic upgrade to captain in any base, it's at ~24 months right now but that's because of the 6 month pause we took. But it's anybody's guess what it'll do. Again, front of the wave might hit it in 18 months (prob in LAX base), someone hired later on might take longer.
As for wanting to work 85-90 hrs a month instead of 75, this should be no problem for you, people are always wanting to drop/trade trips and then there is a pool of opentime as well. If you're in PHX you conceivably would have both PHX opentime and then LAX opentime w/in 5 days to pick from. If you pick up at the end of the SCP for 48 hrs it pays at 125% and they send out critical pay trips at 150% from time to time, so a small increase in workload can greatly increase your credit from time to time.
