Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

What are your thoughts on the necessity of the 2 mods?

The plane we are looking at has a 530/430 garmin package. I HATE the KLN 90 (and the 900 !!!) Those are POS in my opinion! I guess when they were designed it was great but man has technology caught and surpassed them!

Never heard of "Sierra Nose"...if its just the quick-release instead of zeus fasteners I don't think its really a "must have".

Aft baggage, on the other hand? Yeah, you're going to want that and even then you may end up bulking out your aft & nose baggage if filling the seats (especially with skis and/or golf clubs).

Yes, the "serria nose" I was speaking of is a quick release replacement for the zeus fasteners.

I'll will start looking into the baggage mod, I seemed to think that it was going to be a must have. the plane we are looking at has the Serria "dash mod" which moves the warning lights up to the glare sheild. I looked through the catalog and didn't seem have any other items that jumped out as absolutely needed.

Anyone else know of any mods that are "must haves" for the Citation II?

Since we are going through the same process you are...

For any trips over say 600 miles the new flight weight mod is a must have. With full fuel you can only carry I believe two people. With the new flight mod that increases the full fuel payload to 6 pax.

Other than that and the aft baggage mod I would say none of them are "must haves". There are a whole slew of interesting ones that would be nice but they are certainly not vital.

If you consider hanging two FJ44s on it as a mod than that is a must have...at near 1.5 million.

I agree, the numbers Serria posts for their Super II are impressive. Only problem is that my guys want to stay below the 1.5m mark. Still, there are some fantastic buys out there. I even found a few that are rep/bank sales which seem very willing to deal.

One point I have learned early is RVSM is a must and the 10K hour inspection is a huge one and pricey!

What model has your employer settled into or are they still "surfing" for the best fit? There are some really good buys in the V/Ultra market also if you want to venture up into the 1.8-2.4M range.

I looked at the 2009 catalog from serria that Boiler posted the link too, then sent an email requesting the newest. They have some nice stuff (glass upgraded cockpit options, FLIR tail systems etc.) if the owners are willing to spend a bit.

In our old non-IGW C-II we would regularly take 7 pax & bags on a 579nm segment and land at destination with 1100-1200lb (good for a legal alternate within about 75nm).

The Branson/NewFlight mod DEFINITELY would increase range/payload flexibility, and more importantly, give the ability to tanker fuel!

Both planes on our short list have the mod for GW. We have a really good deal for fuel set up at home base so tankering will be the plane. Only problem is that the field where the main partner is based is short (4200) and we will only burn about 1400-1600 getting there. If he wants to fill the seats (and it's a hot day), we may have to leave with less than full fuel.

How accurate are the "book" numbers to real life?

We are looking for a lot for a little.

We are looking at older II's with relatively low time, cescom or similar, updated panel, recent paint and interior and near tbo engines for a steal.

We are looking for high 6's to low 7's for price and around 7000 hours. We have narrowed it down to two. We will overhaul the engines to hopefully have around 1.2 in it with 0 SOH. We will then change and tweak a few things but not too much.

We plan to sell it in a few years and get an encore or cj 2+ or 3+. If we do our research or the market turns a bit we are hoping to get out of it what we put into it before moving on.

Our mission ranges anywhere from 200 miles to 2000 miles.

Wow! If you can find a low time AF and overhaul the engines for 1.2ish youare WAY AHEAD of the curve!

Very nice!

If anybody has performance data on a 500, what kind of burn numbers do you have for a high gw model climb to FL280 as well as 1st and 2nd hr rates. Can you really expect 350 KTAS? What load can you take with full fuel? ...with 2 hr +IFR res.?

Thanks.
