I just don't see why so many folks (mostly of the "R" political persuasion) have a problem with wearing a mask. Sure, I *hate* the darn things. They're scratchy, inconvenient, fog up my sunglasses, and look ridiculous.
But I would feel pretty bad if I unknowingly had the virus and passed it on to my friends or loved ones, all because I was too selfish to wear a mask.
And yet, somehow it's become a macho symbol. "I don't need no mask, I'm healthy, you can't tell me what to do." The level of selfishness and entitlement in this attitude is pretty astonishing.
I dunno. I guess some people just don't give a *** about others. It's just that simple.

It’s the entitlement, exactly. America is known for promoting individuality, not really the collective good like some other countries are, basically most of them. Therefore it shouldn’t be hard to believe we as a country can’t even come together on something as simple as wearing a mask during a worldwide pandemic.

but when you lie and tell people they don’t NEED a mask, that it might even be HARMFUL for them, you’ve then lost not only the credibility but the moral authority to ask them to do something for the common good.
whoever made that bone-headed call needs to be exiled to BFE.

Believe me, I'm not easily offended. My own opinion is that people in general need to lighten the @@ up.
I got scolded for political commentary by Rick, so I find the 'soy boys' comment, while it made me laugh, a bit hypocritical. How is that not a political comment? Ah, whatever...

in fairness, it would have been a whole lot better had the CDC not LIED to us. Telling us there was a mask shortage and the good ones needed to be reserved for those on the frontline of the epidemic would have been the honest and responsible thing to do - like WWII rationing, you could only have so much gasoline, meat, sugar, whatever, because the resources were needed for the troops.

WHO: This virus doesn't transmit human to human, China said so.......
Uh, sorry, yes it does.
Fauci: If you're a healthy young person, sure, you can go on a cruise.....
Uh, we're shutting the cruise lines down.
Fauci: This virus doesn't really pose a threat to the US....
Uh, this is a very serious threat and we must lock down to flatten the curve.
Pelosi: Sure you should come to Chinatown San Francisco for Chinese New Year....
Uh, Trump is going to kill us all!
Pelosi, Shumer, et al: Trump is a xenophobe and a racist for shutting down flights from China.....
Uh, he should have done it SOONER!
CDC: You don't need to wear a mask, they really don't do much....
Uh, everybody MUST wear a mask!
CDC: You must disinfect eveything because Covid on surfaces is a terrible threat....
Uh, yea, sorry, Covid doesn't appear to transmit from surfaces.
WHO, CDC: Oh my God, asymptomatic people can spread the disease so we have to lock down EVERYBODY!
Uh, no, it doesn't appear asymptomatic people spread the disease....no, no, wait, yes they DO!
CDC, et al: People gathering to PEACEFULLY protest the lockdowns is just TERRIBLE and will lead to people DIEING!
Uh, 100,000 people chock a block in the streets screaming, burning, and looting is cool because, you know, it's a righteous cause.
There are more examples, but you get the idea.
The "scientific" community and "smart people" have burned their credibility to the ground.

You faux outrage is hilarious. Imagine what happened to toilet paper, but instead it was medical-grade masks.

Perfect. Love it. I remember seeing a wonderful article about the second gulf war.....but it was just a series of time stamped quotes. It really sumerised the whole political saga and associated rhetoric. What you wrote is obviously crudely paraphrased but it makes a perfect point.

The real conspiracy is the a-historic manner in which people want to reimagine the rationale behind the WHO's and CDC's advice.
Blind faith. They didn't say this stuff to help ration masks! What school of public policy says 'lie to the people becaue they wont accept the truth'.
