What do you think they're comparing it to? 2015?
I have no idea. I didn't write the article.

My crystal ball: the Virus will dissipate over the course of 2021. Biden and the Dems will take full credit for not only controlling, but eradicating the virus; they’ll take full credit for vaccines already in development. I won’t go too far off on a tangent lol, so I’ll just say my predictions stand. Air travel will increase significantly through 2021.

So as March rolls around, are we going to keep comparing to numbers from 2 years ago? I wonder if TSA will even keep the passenger screening comparison page up.

Doubtful. No government agency wants to publicly release info that someone might use to justify cutting back their appropriations...

1. Hope you're right regarding air travel.
2. It's fair to take credit for virus dissipation by doing ANYTHING when your predecessor has done nothing. The current benchmark is do nothing (or actually discourage basic, intelligent behavior) and get the current result.
3. I'm curious if this will be the political play on the right. Basic mitigation is finally put in place, virus numbers come down, and the right claims that it "ran its course"

So you are attributing the resolution of the Spanish Flu to Woodrow Wilson? Worldwide, or just in the US?

You know, you're right.
I'm going to write my congressman and demand that we continue to do nothing. It's worked well to this point.

Nevermind. That's what we're going to do for the next 70 days anyway. Besides......I've been repeatedly assured that the virus dissipation was to occur on Nov 4.

Which nothing are you referring to?

The mobilization of military resources? The cutting of red tape to get a vaccine in record time? The travel restrictions placed on Chinese nationals? The invocation of the defense production act to get ventilators in production nearly overnight? The relocation of hospital ships to hard hit areas? Or the acknowledged support of state governments to move needed supplies from areas with excesses to areas with shortages?

Which of those nothings should we have stopped so that we could "win"?

Oh, I don't know. Maybe the most basic item. Lead by example. Demonstrate behavior. You know, the stuff you do for your kids.
