First meeting....he tells me everything done at the start of this has changed. Because what we were doing wasnt working.
Next thing he said is this is frontier medicine because we dont have any for sure answers. So we go by what anecdotally has shown benefit in other cases.
If i had a dollar for every time i heard faucci downplay anecdotal treatments and apparent benefit...well id have more than a few dollars.
Because of the uninformed medical treatment expertise/authority of faucci acted on by some politicians when i showed up at urgent care my medical treatment was limited by a history major governor.
Faucci was like a medical products maker attorney.....who seeing a Dr with no other options takes off his belt to use as a tourniquet to save a patient bleeding to death...stands up and says..'well anecdotally that may stop the bleeding, but we have no extensive double blind studies to confirm a belts effectiveness to stop uncontrolled bleeding".
The more faucci talks...the less i appreciate his expertise. In the public health arena he had answers on every side of the questions.
And in the clinical treatment efforts he had worse than no answers....even though his opinions were touted as the last word in medical advancements .

Bob, Sounds like you had it bad and for that I’m very sorry. Obviously I don’t know your doctor but more than likely I’d take him over Atlas, the radiologist…hopefully you’d agree with that? Or Peter Navarro, who spouts off about the virus and likes to publicly cut Fauci down (he’s a f’ing economist for the love of baby jesus!).
It doesn’t have to be Fauci but just someone with SOME expertise. But make no mistake I respect Fauci. I think he does the best job he can despite potus and Fox trolling him just about every day. And it’s not so much what I think of him but the fact that he commands respect from peers. He definitely is a believer in proper trials and that was a big reason aids activists were initially calling for his death. BUT, it should be said, he doesn’t really have anything to do with treatment approvals – that’s the FDA. He leads the researchers and that’s what he loves to do.
Anyway, I do hope you make a full recovery Sir.

My perception of this virus is it was something that caught the clinical experts completely unprepared to effectively deal with for treatments. To their credit they quickly were able to figure out what the virus was doing to patients....but the how, why, and what to do about it battle...is still underway.
The public health experts in the face of a pathogen with no known treatment, and with such critical reactions by those infected...and at least early on limited data on the scope of vulnerability for severe cases likely presented worst case models for policy guidence.
We implemented an unprecedented public health policy in dealing with this virus. But it is not a sustainable long term one. We eventually are going to have to adapt and go back to living.
We now understand vulnerabilities for potential severe reaction to infection. We also have good data on the vast majority of cases being mild with full recovery. The great front line medical folks have used what was at hand for the best outcome in treatment and the very sick have benefitted from these efforts.
And the genius vaccine and therapeutic folks are hopefully close to even better options.
Dr Faucci as a public health expert would have served himself and the process much better....when asked..had he more frequently answered "I/we just dont know enough to answer that question".
Its a nice feeling to have millions of people think you have all the answers. But it also can be pretty dangerous...for everybody relying on that certainty.

What is so sad, is that some countries have eradicated the virus already, instead of trying to imitate those programs, our scientists here are saying those countries are doing everything all wrong.
