If you think Delta IT has had meltdowns recently, wait until there 286 tries to process this bid.
The disclaimers are already out from crew resources. We may not fill all positions, we may not back fill positions. It all depends on pilot bidding patterns. They are betting that the pilots in the closing categories are going to bid a certain way. They may get a real shock or it may go exactly as they planned. We need to start a pool to see how many days to release the results. |
5 days minimum

Assuming the CR update is close to reality this could qualify as MOAB?
A couple of questions on timing: 1. If the conversion window indeed is a whole year when would the NYC and CVG M88 cats be actually closed? 2. DTW 744 has got to close right on 31 Dec 2017, since all remaining a/c will be parked in DEC? As to other poster's query about where people will bid, I can only give you one: 7ER/A in the left coast. A bit better than plug. But I must throw the Hail Mary to 350/A. I'm barely hanging on 744/B as it is, but there's only 88 pilots senior to me with 1st pref for 350 captain, so with 125 seats offered (firm rumor), you never know. Shiny new jet syndrome/queen of the fleet commander fantasy strikes again. As I eat Thankskiving dinner at a Romulus KFC, I'll be posting my tale of woe right here. |
DTW for Christmas one year, nothing open, girls in tears, called employee cafe, they stayed open for us. Thank goodness for that little bottle of scotch.

I think the most interesting thing on this bid will be how many junior Capts we produce. Senior FOs seem to enjoy their "lifestyle" too much. I'm betting 30% of the narrow body CA positions go to people hired since 2014. Everyone senior to that has a % bid in for the left seat. Just can't see the 20 year 765B who flies 200 hours a year and gets paid to stay home all winter jumping at the chance to be 717A. Thoughts?
