I agree. I was simply clarifying what gogglespisano was saying. Or at least how I understood him.

We need some sort of self justification for flying it! Yes, it's fun to fly. Yes, it is severely showing its age. Yes, I'm thrilled to be getting MDd off of it. No, the 90 is not a better flying airplane. Better brakes and reversers, everything else about it I prefer the 88.

Dumb newbie question here. If I start on 15 May and get awarded a certain aircraft on day one can I put in a bid for a different aircraft and possibly get awarded something completely different before I even start sim training?
Follow-up question, someone mentioned there might not be many other AEs this year, would that affect being able to change bases within the same aircraft?

You can bid a different base of the jet you get assigned to though (in response to your first question).

You can only bid to a different base via an AE, so if there aren't any AEs, then you can't change bases.
And to clarify #1 from earlier, the reason you could bid for the 350 as a new hire is because it is a new category. You can bid to any new category regardless of your current seat lock.

How this AE shakes out will be very interesting. 88 ATL with a projected staffing of over 800 Crews will be an absolutely massive category. With NYC88 going to ATL I think A position will still go junior but not nearly as junior as it went in NYC. Still there is good chance ATL88A becomes the fastest way to the Left Seat. Years ago that was inconceivable. Brave New World.

I don't know, 60 captains in MSP with no displacements (in base) is bigger than anything we've seen. I'm thinking we could have some ~2014 hire captains in MSP resulting from this bid.
