Well, they certainly didn't back fill......... Seattle lost a net 13 A330 Captains. Didn't look at any of the other positions.

Denny

PS: Quoting is messed up.

There were 2012 positions.

They filled 1699 or so.

When 2000 pilots advance this causes a waterfall whether you believe it or not.

When a 777A retires one 330A replaces them. And one ER captain goes to the 330A and one 320A goes to ER captain and one 717A goes to the 320A and so on.

This AE didn't even fill the openings let alone the waterfall.

I hope you are correct Sailing and this is a non issue.

If it does become an issue I hope management doesn't think we are going to save them from having one of every fleet.

I agree.

I think they have finally woken up to the fact they can't staff all these different fleets.

That is why I believe the 88 and 90 will be rapidly replaced.

With what? Nothing can replace the 88/90 anytime soon. Not enough aircraft orders or simulators to do that.

Buy spirit or frontier and get 1400ish current/qualified A320 drivers plus a bunch of fairly new planes that need repainting and new seats... Would that be enough to replace the MDs?

The last thing they need is a merger.

Never going go happen. The pilots don't want it. Management doesn't want it. And no way in hell the DOJ would allow it. Airlines are evil and the pubic needs their cheap seats!!!

That would give GP on ChitChat another 22,000 posts easily!

They ain't coming my way, bruh.:D

In all seriousness, I just came back from CQ and heard the same rumor. In fact, the DGS guy told me the 90s will be gone before the 88s. But that was at midnight...Just before my E period sim. He could have been dreaming...I know I was close to it.

P.S. Quoting seems to work fine now.

We have almost 250 narrow bodies on order for delivery during the MD88 retirement phase. We can retire them all and still grow the domestic fleet substantially. We are currently taking 5 to 6 new narrow bodies a month and that figure will increase in the Spring when the C series arrives.
