Boeing would have done well to buy the CSeries before Airbus. Whoops.

757. Maybe. But from what I’ve seen it also comes in short on MGTOW on that comparison as well.

I read an article last year about Airbus developing an A322. New wing. Bigger. To be a 757 replacement. 321 like it’s Boeing counterpart 737 can only be stretched so far... before...
It's a strange time in aircraft design. It's a game of chess more than ingenuity. No a 321 isnt a 767/797... but the 321 exists and can do a lot of things well, like show up and carry 200 far. So the 767/797 has a lot pressure from below from 321 and then a cap with the 787 above it. That's a lot of R&D money for such a narrow market.

What about just working over the 767?

At least some air force guys got some free tools out of the deal.

That’s the thing, can a small widebody compete with a long range narrowbody? According to the raw numbers, no, but passengers might be willing to pay more for a double aisle flight?
Airbus has been keeping the A320 wing span shorter for greater airport access, but remove that restriction, and an A322 kills on CASM.

Airbus talks about 321xr, 737mx, 320 replacement was ready to go if Boeing had decided to do something other than max route. 30X.

Exactly.

A new 767-200 with some composites, aero enhancements, new engines and 787 style flight displays.

Then again, Boeing seemed to royally screw up the Air Forces version of the 767.

Almost all the real problems with the KC46 center around the air refueling systems. The airframe seems fine.
