I don’t recall that either. I’m sure if they can’t get enough people to bid off over time they will displace. But over 30 leaving on the AE is a good start. Not sure how fast they are going to draw down and shift that flying to MSP and SEA. My guess is, if they shift the flying quicker than people bid off in DTW, a lot more rotations will start and end with a DH. Not sure they are in a rush to displace.

It was the biggest base and I know they want to put all the new 330 neos in Seattle and msp but why did they want to shrink it by 90 crews? 30 left without back fill this time but they have said they will displace if they don’t get 90
Have the routes changed? I know dtw-gru is done next year but anything else? Seems strange that you would Shrink a base with 35 planes on order.
Maybe more 350 flying will come to dtw eventually swapping from 330?
NYC is the largest base by departures for the 330 and has been for years. Some of the DTW flying is DH or laying over in NYC as well as ATL crews coming to NY. They need far more crews in NYC than DTW yet DTW is the larger base by far. They simply have the crews in the wrong place and our trying to migrate them the cheapest way possible.
Just the two ATH and two TLV flights this summer will take all the Captains they currently have in the base to fly. That leaves AMS, CDG, GRU. LOS, LHR(2), MXP, FCO, ZRH, LAX and BCN without crews. Take a look at all the bases and the amount of NYC flying they do. NYC hugely undermanned for the 330.

I assume they will if needed as well, I just hadn't read it anywhere. I wouldn't be shocked if they decide to displace, as about the only way you get guys to move is to another WB B or decent seniority for NB A, and they don't seem to be offering all that many of those...and least in the bases we want.

If only they had this process by which pilots could move from one seat to another to help fill spots, and run it more than once/twice a year...all while NOT stopping hiring. I know, I know, cheap as possible.

It was in the AE letter, in the 330 vacancy explanation.

“330 – We will add 36 NYC CA and 22 NYC F/O positions on this AE. Filling these positions will be contingent on a significant number of DTW crew bidding off of the 330, providing us vacated positions that we will not backfill. If this movement does not occur, we will not fill the NYC positions. We will add 63 SEA CA, and 80 SEA F/Os. We will also add 12 MSP F/Os. These positions will be added to support aircraft deliveries and Network’s projected deployment of new A330-900 aircraft to the Pacific from SEA and MSP. We are projecting a need for 464 Captains and 745 F/Os on the 330 for summer 2020.”

Nothing in there says they will displace, just not backfill.

The crew resources guy was quoted as saying if they don’t get enough people to bid off eventually they will displace dtw 330b down to whatever level they want it at

On the topic of Next AE, CR video on Skyhub(Net) posted a few days ago said “4th quarter 2019” and then later on he said most likely “Nov or Dec”.

And there are some that would loooooove to make those damned lean overs legal per our contract.

Yeah, imagine the hapless RES pilot who now has to sit 8pm SC to eat this XXXXXXXX. And bonus, you made it home by 8am so you've got another 8pm SC waiting for you!!!
