Do you really think that’s what happened? Do you think if the pilots asked for the jetway to be brought up Delta would have refused?

It would have surely been a fight, one that the pilots would have eventually won because it's hard to operate a flight with the brake set. As to if I think it actually happened, ABSOLUTELY. I've seen tower beg for an on time on FF to include asking people to do things against policy that would look really bad in the media. Middle front line managers at Delta are 100% yes men and would do pretty much anything to make their little feifdom look perfect...to include asking to keep the main door closed and sneak mx in another door to keep the crew from timing out.

In the article: "According to Delta, the door was opened after the maintenance was done. The flight attendants could have walked if they wanted to but elected to stay and work."

If the pilots intervened, but the article doesn’t say they did. Who knows what ops would have done if the pilots tried to take charge.

In the end, but some drama could’ve been spared if it didn’t get as far as it did.

I've had the tower ask us to release the brakes to show an on-time departure when the push crew wasn't even ready yet.

Door open or closed has nothing to do with the crew timing out.

From the article: “HuffPost could not locate any crew members who worked the flight. The source who provided the messages is not a Delta employee.”

Sounds like an unproven allegation by outsiders with an axe to grind.
