My concern with Dickson has nothing to do with KP, but his position on FOQ, 117, etc. He is a good and reasonable man doing the bidding of his bosses while balancing that sometimes successfully and other times not with the needs of the pilot group. He certainly is a better choice than a political hack with no knowledge of the industry or Trumps Pilot.

He definitely represents the industrial solution side of the equation. I expect we will see intelligent and well articulated initiatives against the aforementioned areas where ALPA has fought and won against positions that weaken the piloting profession.

Apparently Moak, Canol, and some others have been advocating for him in DC. I have no doubt that he would be good for Delta and the airline industry, which is not the same thing as the piloting profession.
The Moak Group has previous ties to the RAA, and his position regarding FOQ is still unknown as a private lobbying group. Under Dickson DAL did advocate for its own FOQ carveout and up to 9:45 domestic flight time.

Considering that tangle of people and interests, I’m relieved that they are “private citizens” now.

She is certainly deadset against commuters getting PS to work and feels it’s a huge safety issue. She also believes it counts as duty time under FAR117 and Delta is in violation of FAR117 when PS is granted.

Ha, I suppose by that logic even driving to work would be considered duty. I don't commute, but I imagine the option of having PS removes a layer of stress that helps you sleep better at night.

Whether you are non revving to work or getting PS to work, the affect on your body and rest is the same. So if she thinks one is ok and the other isn’t she’s a hypocrite.

Funny, I once flew with a pilot with similar views, said pilot lived in the base where I deviated to. Said pilot drove to work and I deviated to begin the trip. Good deal for said pilot

Holy crap. I just finished the (200+ pages) of the day one transcripts.

It's some amazing reading; looking forward to reading the rest of it.

Impressions so far:

"Open Door" policy does NOT mean going around the chain of command.

That's a HUGE no-no; don't drink the "doors-always-open" advertised policy at face value. (Then again, what sane person at a company with 80,000 people would?)
