Leaving Alaska is worth a bunch of happiness points on its own which probably translates to positive JD power. Leaving Aruba makes me sad.

I flew Cessnas in Alaska. People would be excited to see me land to get groceries. And even more excited when I’d pick them up and take them to the doctor.

I’ve heard there was more to the global decision, and timing lines up with what I’ve heard. However, it doesn’t really matter to the point I was making

While it certainly is true that it's up to us to get it done...a little support from a fellow union member goes a long way. Maybe speak as to why you do or don't support having a union contract for yourself. Or speak about what management says about having a union would somehow ruin our culture...since after all...we already have unionized employees here.

You don't have to go out there and say "You need to support AFA!" but saying "I am glad we have a union and a contract because..." would certainly speak volumes. Don't you think?

Btw: Although it's still a fresh drive...i've seen people signing cards that I would have never in a million years expected would be in favor of being unionized. Let's see where things are at in 2-3 months.

Tell you the truth, the last thing I want to do on an international layover is talk about work or the union. Funny thing is that is where the conversation generally heads and that is why I make a short appearance then disappear into the local population until pick up.

I know it’s difficult to believe (sarcasm) but there have been pilots who drank way too much on DH’s.

I also know a guy who once drank half of a 3.2 beer on the golf course 7 hours before reporting for a deadhead only duty period riding in the back of an airplane he wasn't qualified to operate. Thank goodness that is now explicitly prohibited.

Poor planning.

I don't think drinking on deadheads is wise anyway. I don't feel comfortable being intoxicated at work, but whatever floats your boats I guess.

No one is saying you should be getting rip-roaring drunk.

Back when I flew for the "other Delta," we DH'ed to Europe once in a while. I enjoyed a glass of wine or two with the Delta One meal before sleeping. As far as it being "at work," you can also look at it as an employee travelling on business. And they drink.

Now it's gone.

Not hard at all to believe, was just stating what I was told. Not that it matters, I don’t see it ever coming back.
