He gave an update in this week's flight ops email. I don’t think he’s sidelined just maybe not advertised as much.

On Deltanet, they are touting the near approval of the Westjet JV, (who has 20 787's on order) to fly to Dublin, Paris etc.... funny how they leave that last fact off Deltanet!

I see a huge expansion of our international flying to Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto. It will be so nice to fly internationally without changing so many time zones. (Insert Sarcasm emoji here)

Do you expect the majority of Delta Passengers will continue to buy tickets abroad when it requires a stop in Canada first to make a hop out of North America? "Wow, I now get to fly SEA-YEG-LHR! I'm so happy about this, I get a four hour layover in Edmonton! I will continue to be a lifelong Delta Customer!"

Get real.

Did you even read what he wrote? Namely the last line?

In your world, every Delta passenger must live in SEA. Meanwhile in ATL where the decisions are made via metrics, there are hundreds of thousands of annual connections in MSP, DTW and JFK that could flow through Toronto to Europe.

Using your SEA centric model, put your YEG example next to a nonstop out of SEA that is $12 more and see what happens.

Finally, if SEA is the center of the world and all international traffic at Delta must flow through SEA, YVR makes a great substitute for the 300 million Americans who don't live within driving distance to SEA.

Dismissing the potential impact of 20 787s that are growth aircraft for a JV partner is disrespectful to those who value Section 1 of the PWA. Make no mistake about it, the plan is for Delta passengers to ride on 787s owned by WestJet.

The last time my in-laws went to Europe they flew Air Canada and connected in YYZ. 2 legs just like going through JFK on Delta (or one of it’s subsidiary equivalents) at about 2/3 the price. Westjet could do the same.

Exactly. My friend had a business trip to Shanghai. He flew NYC to YVR to PVG.
