delta doesn’t have a shortage of applicants

If they wanted to do that they could use the DC-3. I understand insurance on the DC-3 was going to be crazy because of the name painted on the side, so it likely would be prohibitive for this as well. In this case the aircraft will appear airworthy but have two dead engines mounted.

1830 parts are probably 1/10 the cost of 3350 jewelry.

You do realize the regional recruiters are already flying $hiny E175s to aviation schools just to put on a sultry tease for the students. 🤩🤤

I'm afraid a DC or MD anything would probably frighten away the younger crowd.. like trying to recruit with the Wright Flyer. Steam dials, celestial navigation and coal powered JT8D locomotives are so...old and yucky. 🤮

17 90s, last info is now either 20 or 21, I can’t remember which. said to fly for two years but that’s a moving target. 717s are a moving target as well as I’ve heard now that 10 year extension may not actually happen.
Unless the plan changed again; the -88s are gone in august. They talked about keeping a handful for charters and spares, but ultimately decided not to. Just curious where you saw the 717 extension may not happen too?

Agreed, and that is why Delta started the Propel program...It was started to staff the regionals, not Delta.

that dc7 would need a ton of mx. It already had it just to get to the ferry point. It would be a cool i won the lottery money pit though.

I would just bring a life size poster of 80ktsclamp and tell the kids this could be you. Just as good as having 7 MD88s in formation at an airshow.

Supposedly company is balking at Boeing's price tag to update the 717s to RNP capable as part of their fleet standardization goals. No idea how reliable that statement is though.

The fleet captain has repeatedly said the 88s are done Dec 31, 2020. 🤷🏼‍♂️
