Question.

Can a line holder be rerouted into a domicile layover for a trio in August? Seems like yes but I remember reading something that said no.

They can as long as there was no other alternative legal way to get you to the overnight or the whole overnight canceled.

Per the union email yesterday, I called scheduling about two of my August rotations. It was sent up the ladder to a CS Supervisor. Nothing has changed on my August schedule so far, but the scheduler told me I would be subject to 23.K. recovery despite it being contrary to the union's message.

Is there any way to for me to see if that supervisor has reviewed my rotations?

Welcome to the club. The company is pushing back hard on 23k with no recovery. I have a rotation that should have been a sure 23k with no recovery. The supervisor put a note on it to not touch it as 23 G 2 will be applied. Union told me chances are I will have to fly whatever they give me, then it will be grieved. Apparently our relationship is going downhill fast. I found out about the note because I called a different scheduler to try and get it fixed. I tried to talk to supervisor but spend 30 minutes on hold before giving it. It is what it is. If I win grievance, flying these trips is quite lucrative. That's a big if though.

You can call scheduler and ask her to look at it. Supervisors are marking them with notes that we can't see.

I have a trip that says 23K on it for the third week in august. I am going on a golf trip that week and forgot to bid it off. I picked up another 4 day on the 2nd and was planning on dropping the trip on the 24th but now that it says 23K, I don’t want to.

If I have a recovery obligation, and they call me, I can turn down the assignment and forfeit the pay, correct? And if they don’t assign me anything, I keep the pay. Is this right? I don’t want to get a call and then get accused of being out of position. Can I roll the dice without any blowback if they try to assign me anything?

“23K” on the schedule is just a pay code...it doesn’t mean that you actually have a recovery obligation.

Only way to know for sure that you have the obligation for that trip is to call either Crew Scheds or ALPA Sched Committee as they can see the actual recovery roster in iCrew.

I know you can ask to drop the 23K obligation and lose the pay, but I don’t think you can do it once they put the rest trip on your schedule....I think it has to be done before hand.

If you don’t try go drop the obligation, you will sit the normal 6 hour on call window, and if they don’t use you, you are pay protected and could then pick up a WS or GS if you desired.

You can view your 23k on-call information by going to My Schedule, clicking OK, and then on the page where all your rotations are listed selecting "display reserve call status information."

Ok, I did that and it shows “NR” and then lists the rotation, number, start and end times. Does NR mean no recovery?

NR = non rest, meaning it’s not duty, but it’s not rest. It does however break your rest for FAR 117 lookback purposes.

Ok. Thank you for all the information.

Maybe I missed the memo, but are we back to normal 23K obligation? Or are we still doing the 6 hour window for a 12 hour call out? Trying to find a reference.
