USA now CDC Level 3

I get the feeling. I really do. Of course therein lies the rub. How do you convince the fare paying passengers that its safe for them to fly if the crew is wearing a hazmat suit? I'd be willing to bet a lot of those over 60ish types who took or will take early retirement at their carrier when offered did a risk analysis and realized that COVID 19 might make it a very short/painful retirement if they stayed around. Like I said in another thread discussing air filtration I think we're looking at a paradigm shift in how the public looks at air travel.

This is the flash mob, tweet, facebook, instagram, info ADD riddled society. They'll quickly move on to the next shiny object despite the MSM's and press outlets best efforts to push this event to the last drop of relevance. Forecasts on the business side don't share your prognostication. I'm saving this reply, we'll see what the real world looks like in 2 years.

Strongly disagree. Go back and look at SARS/MERS/H1N1 - said the same thing re: air travel.

A couple things though. We need to do everything we can to keep an extra clean environment onboard the aircraft AND make sure the public knows it. I think a good indicator of domestic travel will start to show itself in the numbers 6 months after Disney World in Orlando and the casinos in Vegas reopen. Both in seats filled in the air and at the businesses themselves. Business travel is whole other animal. I know a lot of businesses (including some where I know people personally) will ask themselves after a good period of forced telework/teleconferencing just how much of their travel is really required.
I'll make a note to revisit these posts in 2 years as well.

Serious question,
Can ALPA not collectively, as our representative, just say we are standing down until the threat level to crews has been diminished through 1. Proper PPE worn in and around the airports, 2. Proper nutritional availability at both airports and layover hotels, 3. Proper transportation with minimal grouping/maximum social distancing 4. Reduction of CDC NYC from quarantine inplace/Level 3 warnings.

We heard the same thing after 9/11 and those other events I mentioned RE: business and leisure travelers. Business will travel again. Families are going to go back to wally world, they are going to vacation in Europe, they are going to go back to Asia. This will pass, and it will pass sooner than you think. This is nothing new other than the advent of triggering social media and the proliferation of 24/7 news and information. Doom, gloom, blood and death sells (gets clicks now these days - same thing). Good news doesn't. I'm not worried about what we'll be in 2 years. Neither should you. BTDT.

I don't disagree with the first part of your statement RE: cleanliness.
