... So answer me this. What is the target demographic for an early retirement package? The guys leaving in 6 months? a year? two years? more? I think they need to get ahead of the curve and that would be anyone with 2 years or more. I think you are in the 2 or less category, so what would it take for you to hang it up? I have 5 and not that I am in any kind of target, there is no way they would even try to get me out of here....
I suspect that if they REALLY believe that traffic will recover to 70% by NEXT Summer, that any ERP would target thinning the entire Delta workforce herd only for the next 12 months. Pilots retiring in that time frame would be gone then anyway. I doubt that negotiations will result in a plan rich enough to provide a flood of Pilot takers unless they lengthen the benefit duration, which would be counter to long term savings.
We should know by this time next week.

FWIW the -88 chief LCP said they want to be 75% summer ‘19 levels next summer. As you all know, last summer was a huge CF because we were so short staffed. If we were were about 1,000 pilots short last summer and between now and next summer we’re retiring close to 1,000; I’m having trouble believing that we’re really going to be 2500-3500 overstaffed. Sure, maybe I’m being a little optimistic, but I’m starting to think it’s FUD, especially after the “pandemic contract” comment.

I've always said I was going to retire via ACARS. If the company was being good to us, it would be at top of descent into someplace like NCE where my sailboat would be waiting for me to bring back home... or if not, it would be at pickup. Joking of course. But what is this 2 weeks notice thingy? You are not getting anything from Delta anymore except pathetically bad nonrev benefits. They gonna take those away?
During the less than happy days in NWA's bankruptcy, DTW had a few FA's express their displeasure. They signed in for an international trip, then went straight for the parking lot and drove home.

Because doing it solely to mitigate furloughs is a desperate, foolish and naive act. It is really moot though because the company ain't gonna offer anything of substance anyway to convince guys with a year or more left to go early. It kind of reflects back the ludicrous statement the NWA laywer made regarding 62 year olds retiring. Oh, you will get a few, but not enough to be worthwhile. To get guys to go early they are going to offer enough to outweigh flying a trip or two each month or sitting reserve for 72 hours. Ain't gonna happen. That's why the mitigation of furloughs as purpose is folly.

Bottom line, I think the whole early retirement windmill hunt is a waste of time.
