While you all are clearing things up for me.....I'm not quite understanding the UNA's being miffed about the latest bid. Wouldn't it be advantageous to stay UNA....have no obligation and still get paid? At least for a large majority of the UNA pilots. Might hinder getting a base and force you to commute on a subsequent bid, is that the rub? Also aren't UNA's getting ALV or are they only getting 50 hrs at lowest paying eqpt?
It certainly won't affect the order of furloughs since that will be straight inverse seniority(whether you hold a BES or are UNA....so that's not it

Didn't it also include seat(s) on the board of directors also? I like the provisions of what you stated earlier, but I don't think it is my best interest as an employee to let the government have a say on running a business (JMHO)
THX for the replies....this 240 is making this a little cumbersome My apologies...losing a little in the 240 lockout

Then the results came out and those UNAcorns that had bids in got re-intstated.....this initially angered those UNAcorns that didn't bid because they felt they were passed over....it also caused those that got re-instated to think they were now saved from the furloughs because they got pulled from the UNA pool.
Top it off, company answer was "sorry...we couldn't figure out how to get our DOS computer to run the AE and excluded you guys, so we just ran it as if 1 Oct didn't exist"....but at least they didn't tell us before hand our names would show up on the results, which would have gone a long way on the expectations management front.

I have not heard anything about seats on the BOD, ill look into that. I missed it earlier but I think that another requirement is keeping 90% of the March 24, 2020 workforce. Not sure if that means they could still lay off 10% of that number of since more that 10% retired of if they would be ineligible to furlough.

I believe the issue is we UNAcorns were told we were excluded from the AE, so many did not bid.

Yes, I think I understand this much. But it will not affect the order of the furloughs , I think we can all agree. So, wouldn't it be better to stay UNA and get paid for no obligation....IOW isn't this maybe a better deal? (obviously I'm not an UNA,.. just trying to understand)
Of course if you could overfly above the ALV plus 15 it might economically harm the more senior UNA pilot

The company has not put out that excuse. What they put out is contractually they could not exclude pilots scheduled for a future furlough which is correct. Their error was in telling those pilots they would not be included in the bid. As a result the bid should have been rerun.

... and they also couldn't send an email explaining the situation to avoid confusion. Because... family.

Sorry, not trying to be dense. Personally, I love it when the company jerks me around....IF....I work less and/or make more $$. So, aside from the emotional "getting jerked around", is this actually a good deal for most of the UNA's? If not, why not?

Being a UNA is not really a "good deal" because it means your job has been threatened since May. Yes, if you have converted to UNA (and many still have not) then you get paid to sit at home with no obligation to the company, but most of those people are already deep into working on their backup plan for when they are furloughed. There are a number of UNA's are a part of the 600 that are being saved by the VEOP and are safe but still not having to work but that's still not worth the stress of the ups and downs over the past 6 months.
