I bet they won't make that mistake again!

There will always be another mistake to be made. It's inevitable when your employer holds the cards and doesn't respect you enough to communicate openly and honestly. Sadly, many will indeed learn from this one, though, if only never to trust.

You mean trust that the company is being honest in their communication?

Yes. I know I'm highly skeptical of everything they put out now.

Might hinder getting a base and force you to commute on a subsequent bid, is that the rub? Also aren't UNA's getting ALV or are they only getting 50 hrs at lowest paying eqpt?

It certainly won't affect the order of furloughs since that will be straight inverse seniority(whether you hold a BES or are UNA....so that's not it
The problem, Buck, is that the company told us that all of the 1941 would be excluded and some are reinstated. Now, if ALPA or .gov saves the day and the 1941 survive, some may be reinstated while others who took the company at their word are left adrift. If they don’t get another chance to reinstate in the next 6 months they may be long term effed due to no longer being able to hold thier old position. All because they believed the company communication.

Thanks. I sorta get it I think. Adrift and long termed effed could mean being forced into an egregious commute, or it could mean sitting at home for months and getting paid a full salary.

I'd be curious as to how many are quite happy with the way things worked out. I guess on the next AE the one"s that are content just won't put a bid in and can stay UNA. As a long term 1 leg commuter, I know what I would do.

Thanks for the responses. Be interesting to see the results of the next AE

Cheers

Paid to stay home is nice but not when it’s coupled with a furlough letter. Even the 600 saved pilots only found out a couple weeks ago. If UNA had been a holding spot to save money on training before assigning a category, great. It wasn’t though. It was a you can’t be furloughed yet but you will be holding spot.

You can keep your condescending “Oh I get it. You were paid to stay home, poor you” attitude and shove it.

Cheers, Buck

Paid to stay home when coupled with a furlough letter is still better than having to go to work when coupled with a furlough letter.

I don't get your attitude toward Buck on this one. I would much rather have been converted to UNA several months ago to have full time to job hunt than have to keep commuting and working while job hunting. Getting paid to stay home is getting paid to stay home; it will always be better than being paid to work when the furlough is gonna happen either way

UNA pay vs 737/320/7ER pay and the ability to pick up is an appreciable difference in earning ability to prepare for the furlough. None of this was done in seniority order. Some remained on line earning while others converted to UNA July 1. The company has been yanking their chain since the MOAD results were out.
