May 717 fleet newsletter. Unretiring ship 9563 this month and "at least" 14 additional frames over the next 12 months.

We've "unretired" 5 A320s, and a handful of 767-300s. However the explanation was it was a short-term thing to utilize green time. Could this be the same deal with the 717s?

No they're predicting an active fleet of 64 (maybe 69) airframes by next summer.

I keep thinking about what post-covid recovery will do to our 767-300 retirement timeline.
Its possible with low-ish loads and if recovery is sluggish we might keep them longer?
maybe even less domestic more international in the bid package mix?

If he also said we're getting 787's and MAX's, then you know it's true!

After the merger, some of the older NWA B757s were slated to not get repainted and just retired. Business was good enough they all did get painted and flew for a number of years - mostly to MCO and LAS where the fares were low but still. And how long did the DC9s last...

Sorry to break it to you guys but the reason we are "un-retiring" the 717s is becasue they were never properly retired in the first place. We will get them back flying - complete a brand new interior Mod - then properly retire them. Someone in quality assurance found out we retired a fleet without the "required" pre-retirement Mod and went ballistic.
