I know for a fact that when he was the chief pilot at Freedom, my friend’s wife needed cancer surgery. RG was the chief. My friend needed the day off. Scheduling said to talk to the chief pilot. He called RG multiple times, left multiple messages, never got a callback.
Sounds like RG is an awesome guy... plus our experience with the guy. 767 captain, yeah right.

I have heard he had at least 1 P56 violation.

About the 767 captain thing. I noted that in his memo on evolving flight operations leadership, our top flight ops guy says something to the effect that RG will be missed in flight ops and to look forward to seeing him on one of his "76ER trips." Just because leadership has out of seniority privileges, doesn't mean exercising them is a good idea. I'd be surprised if it's good times for anybody in the cockpit, let alone prudent and the highest level of safety. Just sayin'.

I didn’t. Perhaps a case of the written word on a forum losing tone. As I said, it was a genuine question, which they happened to answer a couple of days later. Like you (apparently), I had also seen them mention it in the Town Hall, and was (trying to) affirm & add context.

Then, when he got another job ALPA reported the news, observing, "apparently his family got tired of him too and he now works for United."
