Just curious....I'm always interested in another perspective.
This goes back to management's odd decision to run a very unrealistic displacement bid that they are still trying to recover from. My only guess is for them, all this is worth the cost of keeping unions away from other work groups

Remember when they said they could staff the airline with 5,200 pilots...

Can't wait for Memorial day weekend, or 4th of July. If I needed to travel over a holiday I'd have no confidence right about now. Total embarrassment.

Pilot staffing projections have been atrocious the last few years... ever since they pumped the brakes on hiring in 2018. I think they need new leadership. We keep erring on the side of cut too deep.

Maybe in years past when there were pilots who did GS on holidays have finally eliminated their goodwill to the company. Delta has attempted at every turn of the Pandemic to scam us. And this staffing issue has been going on for the last 4 months. Who the hell makes a schedule knowing full well they don’t have the minimum number of pilots? And frankly if I have to turn down another ****ty turkey sandwich, I’m going to puke. I literally Blocked Delta’s number that they use to make inverse assignment calls because I have been getting them for the last 3 months pretty regularly up to 3 times a day on my days off. This isn’t vaccine problems. And evening I did schedule the vaccine of days off it’s sort of hard to fly with the required 48:00 waiting period when my f’ing schedule was built with 72 hours off in between the majority of my rotations. That memo was ridiculous. Maybe Laughter could help out and come fly a rotation...oh wait a minute...

There’s too many trips open and too many pilots sitting home waiting for training.

They made their bed, now have to sleep on it. So much for the “team that brought massive profits, trust us”.

Exactly they wanted to play the mental game with the pilot group. Now they can play the financial game with their balance sheet, they could have recalled the UNAs months ago.what did everyone do, book their tickets last week? It’s apparent that schedule reliability is going to be a problem. Why would I come to work on a day off to be subjected to a self induced IROP.

They could’ve have recalled the UNAs, but...there’s a big training bottleneck. I have trips with LCAs this month...none of them have OE assigned.

They never should’ve place people in UNA to save some money and could’ve keep people current every 3 months. They found the UNA loophole, exploited and now have another issue, all while taking payroll support from the government and not being ready for the demand.

Summer is going to be crazy...definitely will RT june-august.

The training bottleneck is self induced on their part, mainly because of how they offered the MOAD, then VEOP.

UAL did displace on a smaller scale and kept all their pilots flying very minimally to keep recency.

They are now resuming off the street hiring.

Love the critical ops update. Nice little dig about pilots getting the vaccine and it interfering with trips. Give me a break. I had no desire or need to get the vaccine. Now I’m seriously considering it.

I stumbled across this online when trying to ascertain how many cancellations we’ve has so far this weekend, under the heading “This isn’t who we are.” The article wasn’t dated, but I can think of half a dozen incidents this could have pertained to, including this weekend. It seems this is EXACTLY who we are.

“This isn’t the quality of service, the reliability that you've come to expect from Delta Air Lines," Bastian said. "We’re very sorry, I’m personally very sorry.”

Bastian thanked customers for their patience and loyalty while acknowledging their frustration. "We’ll do everything we can to make sure this never happens again," he said.
