Default AE Training Order & A220 Throughput

I specified "Train After Junior Pilots" on my AE preference. Sure enough, I appear last on the award list for SEA220A, although I'm #3 in category and likely #1 to train if not for my election to train after junior folks.

Can this be unwound? I was afraid of losing my summer vacation, but now that I see the volume of awards in all seats and bases, not sure I'm excited about waiting a year to train.

Relevant sub-questions:

1) Does anybody have a guess at the 220 training throughput capacity? I could count the total number of 220 awards and come up with a guess for my training time frame of I know the pilots per month capacity for IQ.

2). Does that "train after junior" election run within category, or across the entire company? Either way, would it be prudent to assume a training priority might be applied to staffing a new category?

Just trying to get a feel for where I'll fall in the training hierarchy. Last out of 50-something in category might be fine, but I'd rather not be last in all of Delta. First world issues, I know, but I just like to have an idea of what to expect. I didn't email or call the Training Planners because I'm sure they are swamped right now.

It applies only to your awarded category. See 22.D.8.d.1.

Remember though, the Company can convert junior pilots into the SEA220A/B category who are already qualified on the airplane before more senior pilots who need IQ so that adds yet another variable to trying to sharpshoot a training/conversion timeline.

I’m sorry I have no hard answer to your question, but have to believe this cannot be unwound...particularly this long after they’ve started churning on the training solution. It’s a good reminder, though, how abhorrent our PWA and AEs are when it comes to IQ. Having no IQ golden days or any other way to block off important life events for 210 or 365 days at a time is asinine. At the very LEAST we need to be able to bid on IQ. The freedom we cede to the company at our own scheduling peril is worth remembering when it’s time to prioritize negotiation items in your surveys.

Does a pilot needing short course or long course have any affect on training order?

No, they have to go in seniority order for those needing training (any length), otherwise they starting paying people. The contract only allows the company to move people out of seniority who require no training.

I would like to tag along with this discussion and ask another question with those that have a little more history here...

I did the same thing with the “Train After Junior” option and now I have 160 peeps that require training before me on the 7ER...any guesses how long it would take until I get the call?

Is there a way to tell who has been offered training ahead of me? I’m wondering if I can tell where I am in the queue so I can try to plan my life more than 30 days out. Thanks.

Go to the Fleet Page and check IQ skeds after CR publishes the Projected Training/Conversion list?

^^^^^This. Our AE process is one of the worst, if not the worst I have ever heard about. I think our AE process and the whole VA hotel issue is a way the company de-facto extends seat locks.

Who can offer up a year of no hard commitments to spend a month on Virginia ave? Who wants to?

Hopefully any hotel changes will be permanent - now all we need is a two week “Golden Day” period per quarter to allow for you know, “life.”
