It all varies. Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. No way to predict the drop.

As others have said, the drops vary by class. That said, even if you don't get what you wanted you can always bid in the AE (the equipment and base transfer bids done every few months) and probably get it if you're on a narrowbody fleet.

Did any numbers get posted for how many unbid spots there were in each category in May? I dont remember seeing it in the results document on Deltanet. ATL 73N has been conspicuously absent for several weeks.

Only way to figure it out is do the math from the posting and award, accounting for pilots bidding off. That said, there's no "conspicuously absent" when it comes to drops. They can put out any unbid positions they want to until the next AE.

I don’t mean conspicuously absent like there’s anything nefarious. I mean conspicuously absent like I want to gain some relative seniority and it’s been several weeks since any ATL 737 got dropped for new hires. I was trying to see when CR runs out of unbid NYC spots. Almost every NYC NH slot at this time is just a 210 day penalty box for every other base’s pilots before they can move on anyway, so I’m not that worried, just needlessly impatient.

Yes…crew resources posted a screen shot of an excel that showed all the unfilled positions.

There are still a lot of unfilled vacancies from the latest AE in DTW so it's absolutely possible. It seems like more classes than not have had dtw available lately too. Unfortunately other than NYC there are no guarantees week to week though. The good news is that we're supposed to have another AE in August so if you're in class when that comes out you can bid dtw if you don't get it in your class drop.
