One item of note, we had another AE after that where pilots junior to me got my base AND they converted into base before I got there. There are so many variables to how things can play out but I think your odds are good.

Obvious caveat with “things change” but right meow, the most junior FO in MSP is on the 73…320 is 2nd, approx 500 numbers senior to the 73 plug.

FWIW MSP 73N had positions that went unfilled on the last AE.. only 1 or 2 but still.

If someone wants 737 NYC, is it a good likelihood right now they could get it?

Not sure how the seniority fell in the last class, but looking a few posts up there were 10 NYC 73 slots grabbed in that class. Don’t know what went to the plug, but you’d probably have a decent shot getting it. Folks who want NYC area first and foremost will probably bid ER above 73. There are a good number of NYC 73 slots left open after the last AE that must fill, so what I’m saying is there’s a chance.

What is more important, 73 or NYC? If it’s NYC, there is an extremely good chance of getting something NYC. If the 73 is the priority, it greatly depends on the particular drop and the last 4 of your SSN (99XX is best, 01XX is worst).

Top tip: If your only 73 option is in another base, you are almost guaranteed to be able to bid a base change to NYC in the first AE (currently 4-5 annually. They are forever promising the do more/smaller AE’s, but never seem to actually do it.) It is possible to get lucky with timing, and convert bases before you finish training. I did on the 88 years ago, but I got out of NYC.

Good luck.

you’re joking, right? It likely 737 NYC will be the most junior fleet for a long time. Maybe 220 will compete but the short answer is yes, if someone wants it he will get it.

the 220 has been junior to the 73 since it showed up on property in NYC…why would it all of a sudden become more senior to the 737?

thanks. I guess I can add another type rating if it means getting to stand reserve again home in my pajamas. 737 would just be to have easy sims for someone with the type already.
