When I got hired there were 3 MD88 slots and they went to 3 most senior guys. Rest of slots were 737-200 in MCO and 727 engineer. Guys would have shanked you to get those maddog slots.

If you are counting the islands, Canada, and Mexico as international (some I've met don't) then most everything has it in the monthly bid packages except the 717 (I think?) and 220. Though I've heard some 220 pilots say as more get delivered seasonal service to Canada and Central Mexico could come. Destinations/equipment change all the time so don't bid an aircraft for specific layovers.

Historically, the wide bodies fly the “most” international routes. A350/A330/765 categories will provide you with the most international routes within their respective bases.

If you mean international = over water (not Canada, Caribbean, etc), then that would be the A350, A330, and 767-400 that almost exclusively fly international. Those fleets will all have some domestic mixed in from time to time, but generally that will be a very small percentage of the flying. The other fleet that does international is what we call the 7ER category, currently in SEA (but closing soon), ATL, LAX, and NYC. This category includes the 757-200, 757-300, and the 767-300. Every base is going to have a different mix, but the 757's are almost exclusively domestic except maybe for a few routes, while the 767's do both. The percentage of domestic vs international is going to vary by base and by month. Generally if you're junior it's harder, but not impossible, to get international flying as a line holder. While you may not get anything on your initial award you could probably snag stuff as people drop trips into open time or via the swap board.

Ha! Certainly interesting how perspectives change over time.

Reads like troll bait

but simply 350/330/765 fly little to no domestic. Whoever said they did you should confront that person

Since we are asking silly newbie questions, and I'm new to PBS, what's the reality of only doing 3, 2, or single day rotations all month? Is that simply an impossibility? Everything four or more? LAX base, any equipment for thought exercise.

Pretty easy if you're on the 1st page of the Wide Report. But for most NB categories on most months, there would hardly be any trips left if you avoided pairings >3 days.

1 and 2 days are hard to get on the PBS bid unless you are very senior. If your in a very understaffed category then you can often get them via white slip pickup or swap with the pot during the month.

as far as 3 day trips it’s a little easier. I’d consider myself junior trending towards mid seniority and I can hold exclusively 3 day trips on the 737.

All category dependent and can vary month to month. Best way to gauge it is to look at the monthly bid awards for different categories.

The exception to senior 1 day trips is NYC. There are so many commuters, 1 day trips are junior/in open time.
also, I think NYC has the highest percentage of 1 day trips. Of course. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
