That is a pretty outdated view these days. It varies but ATL 320 pops up on new hire class drops pretty consistently. Even if you didn't get it off the bat, certainly you could ATL on just about any other fleet or bid the 320 somewhere else and bid into ATL the very next AE.

If you want the mostly international wide body fleets, 350/330/765(767-400), then no those are not accessible to new hires or really till you get 6000+ pilots minimum below you. That is hurt by there only being SEA330 and LAX350 available on the west coast. Rumors that SLC will get the 330 continue but closing the SEA7ER will negate much of the junior access out west. LAX will have to grow the 350 base a bit at some point but the junior FO is sub 7000 on the list.
Short answer is junior wide body FO outside of LAX7ER (not a lot of international availability, that goes quite senior), is not really an option at this time.

Depends on your definition of wide body. 7ER (757/767) is easily accessed in a bid if you can’t hold LAX but can get the 7ER in another base. Training capacity can mean a fleet is not available in every class.

LHR got swapped to a 330. CDG is still slated for 350. They will also be getting AUK. SYD runs 2 a day for like 5 days a week I believe…Curious if LAX-PVG will come back this year or next on 350 now that China is opening. The LAX350 category is severely understaffed as well. Some days this month they have no FO’s on any SYD. Averaging at least 2 trips a day uncovered from PBS. Some days as many as 5. But they haven’t really opened it up much on bids, and with more routes coming I’m sure those FO’s will be taking in tons of GS.
for some reason delta loves to severely understaff our widebodies.
