With that attitude, I’m sure they feel much the same.

In all seriousness, do many people go out exploring solo or do they usually go out with other crew members? I’m not antisocial, but I tend to like to wander by myself, especially when I am doing photography. I’m sure I’ll meet up for dinner most the time, but there might be times I want to continue exploring without being tied to a schedule.

I used to frequently bid B pattern 6 days to CDG. This had me on my own a lot as I'd often go to a different hotel from the other pilots (it's based on US destination from CDG). I loved it as I could get out on my own and move on my own pace which is faster than most. I also enjoyed grabbing a bottle of wine, hunk of cheese, sausage, and baguette for dinner from local vendors.

I always went solo with a few exceptions. Wanted to see things at my own pace and on my own time. I usually never met for dinner because I wanted to not be rushed.

Sometimes though you fly with friends or people that have a cool insight into the city...thats fun. I never did the meet up at the hotel restaurant/bar in NRT or AMS....never seemed like a fun way to spend a layover in a city with way more to offer. Some guys liked their routine though with the hotel food and drink scene.

I did about 30 years on the int'l side.

Don't be late for briefing, if you are, don't ask for a landing.
If the weather sucks, offer the landing to the other FO, he'll do the walkaround in the weather.
Don't be late coming back from your break, bad form.
Don't be late for the pickup in the morning, That's a FA move.
Know when to use "heavy" in your callsign,
Know the litany checking in with Oceanic.
Know the controllers will clear you 5 fixes downstream or the FIR boundary in Europe.
Know you'll be waiting for your room because the FA's make every room request known to man.
Know the hotels screw with the aircon at night, so hack your thermostat or call the front desk and complain, won't do any good.
Know the FA's expect you to buy them drinks if you meet at the hotel bar.
Public transportation is usually within a short walk from the hotel, if not, hire a driver and see everything. Takes research.
Sometimes you have to say you're from Canada, saves the hassle.
Use the room safe, don't take valuables.
Enjoy the hell out of it. Go to every mountain top, cathedral, dive bar, etc. Sleep when you die.

I’ll add that when you keep your passport in your safe, put your shoe on top of the safe.
