Kew and Voyager offered $20 including tips, splittable. But their car quality was so bad that they were unsafe. I opt for better quality ubers.

With normal traffic it’s 20 minutes between them.

Ah yes, sorry got confused EWR and LGA for a second. EWR to JFK car ride is about 1 to 1.5 though right?

1-4 hours is more accurate. Other than mass transit phobia, I can't imagine wanting to Uber to or from EWR.

I seem to recall a couple EWR-JFK shuttle bus options for around $30. It isn't quite as convenient as Uber, but the experience was better than the multi rail combo. Multiple bag drags between airtrains, subway and LIRR, left you in need of a shower and the end of the crosstown journey.

For the Airtrain JFK-Jamaica Station get the MetroCard for 10 trips for $25 on the Airtrain. Just don’t get a MetroCard for $25 or they’ll charge you $7.50 per trip. Available at the kiosks in Jamaica Station to and from the Airtrain.

For the LIRR get the app MTA eTix. Jamaica to Penn Station is $7.50. Everything is currently “Off peak” due to Covid.

Also, get the app LIRR TrainTime for their schedules.

Also, get the app NJTransit for tickets from Penn to EWR. I haven’t taken it for awhile so I’m not sure what they cost.

Great information in this post so we will "stick" it for a while. At the same time we are "unsticking" the other two scheduling threads since there reason for being is winding down.

Kew Garden Taxi: (718) 846-5800
Voyager: (718) 805-6666

The caveats here are significant:
1) always add one to your party number when calling. They have a rule that if you call for one and pick up a stray in the airport they charge each of you $20. If you call for two and bring two, it’s $20 total. No penalty if you show up with fewer than you called for. I don’t understand but it’s true.
2) Their unit of time is the “maintenance minute.” “Fifteen minutes” is sufficient for a sit-down meal.
3) car quality is frighteningly poor.

^Switched to voyager a couple years ago and haven’t looked back. Cars are of decent quality and friendly drivers. They’re fairly accurate on the time quoted, much more so than Kew.

Don’t forget about the NEPP for those of you without company parking. Reimbursable $200/mo towards transportation to/from EWR/LGA rotations.

Consider signing up for the northeast parking program. You can expense up to $200 per month for ground transportation expenses for LGA and EWR rotations. The only downside is you lose the ability to have company provided parking in another base. You still may come out ahead.

Also, if you are assigned a short call rotation from EWR you can expense up to $100 of actual transportation expenses.

$25 for 10 rides on airtrain is now only good for 30 days...If you are going to ride more than 3 times a month, it still worth it.

And you can only purchase them at the kiosks that have the airtrain badge on the front.

Kisok pathway is English > Metro > New Card > Airtrain > 10 Trip/$25

If you are refilling a previous card: Refill > Add Time
