My perfect schedule would be 3 5-day trips, with either one leg late on day 1 or one early on day 5 and done. 13.5 days gone from home and 78 hours of pay.

Yep. Throw in one or two great layovers per trip, lower time on actual duty, few or no plane changes versus 1-2 a day, 1-2 legs a day versus 3-5, and having easy report and release times versus the 5am/11pm nonsense is well worth "losing" a calendar day off in theory.

I liked the 88 ATL 5 days with a late sign-in, 30+ hours somewhere, and noonish release. Ah the heady days of 2017

Low leg 5 day trips that are hyper-commutable on both ends and great layovers are far, far better than crap 5am report, 11pm release 4 days with short rests, more legs and constant plane changes. Better for commuters as well as in base pilots' QOL in many cases.

I do agree that 80% or more 4-5 days is very excessive. A healthy trip mix helps everyone.
I agree with a healthy mix too. Guess the company thinks if we're out in the system on a 5 day they can use us as ready reserves and reroute us as needed.

I too liked those for efficiency, but they might as well been 4 days, since my body wrecked most of the day after I got home. Other people loved them and didn't have apparent issues. I hope they treat you better! But no amount of "I've figured out my sleep," will make up for the sleep depravition that goes on crossing the pond.

My jam would be 1-day or 3-day trips, T/W/TH. There is a good mix of 3-5 day trips, which is great for the commuters, but there needs to be more 1 and 2 days. More is a bad term since we haven't had 1 days in ky cateogey for a bit. I think we have one 2-day this month.
