Two things were responsible for TA2. RA leaving dropping the contract in EB’s lap who could not really allow his transition to begin with a massive labor dispute and United pattern bargaining off our TA1. A key part of a successful negotiation is bringing your competitors up with you.

Think about what might be different in scheduling pilots verses flight attendants.
Hint: They have worse work rules and are qualified on all equipment.
As far as 5 day trips Delta did not do them. Post merger with NWA they eliminated them in the NWA bases. Huge complaints from pilots so they brought them back because we asked for them. Be careful what you ask for!

This always amazes me, what does anyone think he is going to say, maybe something like this:
"Well we would like you to accept the offer on the table, but if you don't we will come back with a more lucrative offer." I could not believe people were actually saying R.A. said this was the last best offer so we should take it.

…
Having said all that, it is possible to call a bluff and lose, so each deal must be weighed by each pilot in full context.

Though I hate 4 and 5 day trips, I'm ok with keeping 5 days for the commuters, but you're spot on with the percentage of 4 and 5 day trips. Having zero 1 and 2 day trips is terrible and should be unacceptable.

I do agree that 80% or more 4-5 days is very excessive. A healthy trip mix helps everyone.
