Speaking of MCO/FLL, any chances or rumors of those becoming pilot bases some day?

Rumors? Yes? Tons.

Should be announced on friday. Or next friday.

I do the FLL commute. I live about 20-30 minutes from the airport. It’s a pretty easy commute. Jumpseats are usually open and even on oversold flights enough rookie travelers miss their flights so nonrevs usually (not always) get on. Miami is my escape outlet and it is pretty much the same with less frequency (right now at least). In FLL they use the 757 on the ATL-FLL route so you also have the opportunity for a flight attendant jumpseat if they haven’t checked in 15 min prior. This has come in handy a bunch of times.

I doubt it ever becomes a pilot base but it was off handedly floated as a possibility by crew resources before Covid (during the Latam acquisition). It didn’t work out like they hoped so I don’t see it happening anymore.

What are the chances that hiring drops the 1,000 hour turbine time requirement in the not to distant future?

Until we run out of people to put into classes? Zero

Online assessment

For those who have recently taken the online assessments test how many sections are there?
Someone mentioned Cut E for online prep. For those who have done Cut E and the actual test, how similar are tests on Cut E?

Thanks much!

It is very similar and you can do as many practice rounds as you need. Went in the way back machine to cut and paste this for you. Good luck!

Bump from #1616:

That's the one I did and steer everyone towards. Here's the sections from post 91. Can't practice the comm one at this site. I just recommend turning the volume up and write it down. That's the only task you can use a pen and paper. Plus you can practice each section before the real test.

"8 sections

Spatial orientation (ndb/rmi in relation to aircraft-its timed for 3 mins)

Reaction speed (click when two shapes match each other)

Deductive logical thinking (sudoku style—which shape should be in which position on the grid)

Monitoring ability(how many dots are moving around in a circle)

Multi-tasking capability (3 tasks at once—-adding/subtracting, determining if shapes are duplicated in a row of other shapes, and a slider like the game asteroids where you avoid objects to prevent a crash)

Auditory comprehension (audio clips of clearance read backs or approach clearances and you have to choose the correct answer from 3 multiple choice options)

Complex control (use your mouse to guide your plane through a series of rotating circles)

Work-related behavior(standard personality test)"

DO NOT forget to do the American Airlines assessment on their app via pilotcredentials. It's easy, free and takes two seconds to register for

The tests are identical because they are made by the same company

100% the same are monitoring ability, complex control, deductive logic, reaction speed, spatial orientation

Multi-tasking is slightly different but still a solid baseline

Anyone who is mothertongue english shouldn't have a hard time on auditory comprehension
