Quality of Application

All,
It’s time for me to make some short/medium-term career decisions. The end goal is Delta.
I’m a mil reserve guy nearing 1500 and looking to make the final push. I can stay flying full-time mil, move over to regional 121, or do fractional NetJets/FlexJet flying. All remaining mil time will be PIC.
For quality of application (assuming total flight hours are close to equivalent) how much does the difference in 121, 135, or mil PIC time factor in if it’s all multi-turbine? Is there really a stigma with NetJets/FlexJet flying, or is there really an advantage on apps to regional 121?
Thanks in advance.

Major airlines value 121 over 135 but times are changing. In my Delta new hire class we had over 10 corporate pilots. Ranging from Flyexclusive to netJets.

Also during my interviews at AA, United, FedEx and UPS I had corporate guys in my groups.

Keep in mind the regional market is shifting. Regionals are paying as much as LCCs.

My advice to you is to choose the option which would allow you to drive to work apart from the squadron.

Having flying experience outside the military will also help you out when you get to Delta. (I say this as a former mil bro my self)

edit: Apply to Delta now. I know plenty of bros who have gotten the call with about 1500 hours. Remember you only need the ATP-CTP complete to apply. Delta will give you the ATP practical.

Apply to Delta now, not a regional.

Just received a interview invite. I live in PHX and curious how senior/junior LAX and SLC for FOs is?

Guy on the JS last week said PHX-LAX commute sucks far more than SLC (he changed to SLC a year or so ago). Said it’s mostly RJs now (SLC commute is 5x mainline per day in 320/73). Haven’t verified it, but passing along what I heard.

Guard/Reserve Question

What are the chances of getting hired with only 1200 hours (1,000 heavy/multi-engine) as a military reservist? I know my time is low compared to most...but I am hearing rumors that airlines are hiring Guard/Reserve guys at 750 now. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I do not believe DL is hiring pilots with restricted ATPs right now. not 100% sure.

Flew with a cap that has done all the west coast commutes and he said SLC was a way easier commute for that reason. I have a FA friend that echos this, too. The only benefit is the last minute drive to LA is much shorter then SLC.

Will you be invited to interview if you do not have 100 hours in the last year or is that like an insurance thing?

I’ve got the application filled out and will update it once I hit the 100 hour mark again at the ULCC I’m at. Just wondering if it is an accurate assessment on my part that I will not hear anything until I can show the 100 hour recency requirement?

I think it's situation dependent...I'm a retiring mil guy and was given an interview without 100 hrs in the past 2 years.
