Asking for a friend, but does anyone know of guys who have gotten hired with a history of a DUI or even a DUI arrest with no conviction?

The ones I know all had theirs in their late teens/early twenties, but yes. Don't really know the details.

Biggest thing here is to own it. If you get the interview, the job is yours to loose. When the DUI comes up is discussion, state the facts, accept responsibility, say you are thankful your stupidity didn't kill anyone, tell what you learned from it and that you never repeated the error. If it was a stupid mistake from your youth (many years ago) it's a part of your story.

If you have more than one, you probably won't get an interview.

I have friends with DUIs at many different airlines. Tried to get one hired at Delta and they told me they won't look at anyone with a DUI within 10 years... after that, you're good. But they were able to get hired at two other legacy airlines (theirs was about 7 years ago).

Do you know if they had an actual conviction or was it an arrest? Good to know other airlines still will hire.

So I interviewed about 8 months ago and received the dreaded TBNT. I really don't know why in hindsight (did interview prep and all that). I felt really good during the interview but they let about half of us go before lunch that day. Life goes on. That being said, I haven't been called since but have kept my app updated. Does anyone know any recent folks who got the TBNT and roughly when they heard back for a second chance? Tried to see them at NGPA but they weren't taking resumes; just told to "keep the application updated".

Published app late November. Not expecting to hear back soon given my circumstances, but wanted some insight to find out if I'm even in the ballpark of getting called for an interview.

2370 TT, 1076 multi, 645 of that is 121 turbine time (FO).
3 types, currently at a US major, typed in an aircraft Delta flies.
5 recs from Delta pilots, app professionally reviewed.
No degree/military service.

I understand I am already on the lower end of the totem pole as far as competitive qualifications go. Here is the kicker though. I failed a line check a little over a year ago. This was my initial OE line check and it was a major blow for a few months. I've since recovered my confidence and would even argue it was a good learning experience. I'm not ashamed of it anymore - but I am thinking this may be holding me back from getting an interview and a chance to tell my story about how I've learned and shaped up since then. I have had 4 successful training events since then (recheck, remedial simulator training, LOE, OE/line check on a new type) and don't see it as a trend - just a blip that I have learned from and never want to repeat again.

Ultimately, no one knows. Maybe it’s holding you back, maybe it isn’t. You’ve certainly got the correct attitude about it. Lots of people flying here who have busted a ride or two (or more). All you can do is keep updating your app until your name is pulled. In the mean time keep trying to add more “bling” to your resume. Things like becoming a line check airman, pilot mentor, community volunteer, etc.

I had a busted oral check with the feds a couple years before applying. During the interview it was brought up during the app review. HR mentioned that it was a one off and not a pattern, as nobody at this level of being a professional is perfect. I heard from someone else they want to see a few successful training events after you have an issue.
