Obviously those principles were compromised when they needed every warm body they can get.

Yes.

The truth is not always kind.

Any official news about how many we’re gonna hire in 2025?
Last I heard was 600-800.

I heard from an LCA buddy, who heard from an APD buddy after a recent meeting of those types that current plan was notably less than that. Basically hiring for attrition UFN.

Aside from the LCA rumor-mill having a dubious history, I’ll believe it when I see it. But still…

Would be good for someone to ask at the ATL Base Visit on Wednesday. There is also a Flight Standards meeting this month.

Absolutely. Other than it runs up a ton of billable hours, hotel expense, lunches at the canteen and doesn’t accomplish a damn thing, the truth is always best.

There’s not a major amount of fleet growth coming next year. Slight NB and WB gains, offset partially by retirements of some 75/76/320s. 600-800 wouldn’t surprise me, I think retirements are in the 400-500 range.

539 according to the ALPA app.
600 doesn’t sound crazy if we put together what I heard and what Fangs said.
Hopefully hiring picks up again if/when the Max arrives.

I doubt they will ever require a degree again. The flow with Endeavor ties their hands. Having said that you are going to need to have a stunning resume outside of the degree to get hired without it. Keep in mind Delta tracks training performance and targets hiring to success of prior applicants in training.

Scroll down to the bottom at https://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/...elta_air_lines and you can find projected retirements. Lapav67 is pretty spot on.

The company official word was always the next few years would be in the 1,000-1,200 range. This was maybe even after all the Max stuff. But 600 sounds more reasonable. We aren’t United after all.

Or not hire at all.... Just run the operation "a little hot" like they did in 2019 ;)

The MAX debacle is going to have some wide rippling effects on staffing for the next 2 years. I would be preparred. This is the air line industry.
