as to the premium several airlines have different rules, but I have known pilots at other airlines who drop to 0 or close to it and only fly premium. At AA it only pays 1.5x but at NK and (I think) JB and SWA it pays 2X.
at SWA you cannot drop trips at all.

and at AA, if you call in sick in the same calendar month as premium, you lose the premium pay.

you can give away at WN , but you are right, no straight up drops.

I thought AAs policy on that went away in November/December timeframe

Secondly, Delta is the only legacy I'm aware of that premium pay is solely 200%

3rd, I'm not aware of any Legacy where you can drop all your trips and pick up solely premium trips. If that's the case everyone has some sort of "trigger"

JetBlue and united both have premium pay with no trigger

as to the premium several airlines have different rules, but I have known pilots at other airlines who drop/ trade away to 0 or close to it and only fly premium. At AA it only pays 1.5x but at NK and JB it pays 2X. (As I understand WN pays 2X if they call you, 1.5 if you just pick it up out of OT)

If we are comparing legacies only,
AA is 1.5x but that is a function of the union not wanting 2X, and their premium on reserve is much better than ours IMO.

I know UAL can offer 1.5 and 1.75 but from what I am hearing it has mostly been 2X. I could be wrong tho.
No worries I wasn't offended.

Wasn't aware of those perks at NK and JB. Pretty neat for them. I agree completely that AA's premium on reserve is much than ours. I couldn't believe it when I first heard about it.

Glad that’s the case.

NK probably has the best drop/pickup rules of any US airline I’m aware of. 75% of their days have to be available to drop, regardless of reserve coverage, and premium there (called Y list) seems to work like our GS does here with no trigger. 200% with no obligation to fly the trip If they call you (you can turn it down)

JB can drop to 70 but give away down to 0, and premium there is 200% but I think it’s FCFS.

AAs is pretty sweet, I’d take that over rolling thunder any day.

hopefully we can work the GS trigger down a bit more (IMO if we are gonna keep it, it should be whatever the minimum a pilot can be awarded, which right now is 65)

seeing I had bad info about vacation counting towards the trigger makes the trigger a bit less of a big deal to me. Not sure why I thought it did not count.

To be fair, after the worst of our BK concessions, for awhile there, vacation indeed did NOT count against the GS trigger, nor training, nor anything else not associated with the trips you flew. Also, for awhile there, GS only paid time and a half.

So the company thought they had us, but then a lot of guys figured, "why even GS for 1.5x, especially when I have vacation in a month, in which case it will be nearly impossible to meet the GS trigger anyway." Turns out the company truly can't fly the published schedule without a lot of help from greenslips. We fixed all that years ago with a side letter, which restored GS to the double pay standard as well as having vacation and training once again count against the GS trigger. Funny how that worked out!

Vacation, training ect.. did not count toward the trigger for quite a few years. I think it improved in the 2012 contract.
