From: 3+ hour sit in the ATL
There is a old saying, perhaps lost on breezy - It's difficult to write straight when you think in circles.

I think a few people misconstrued my message that Delta is not attractive and that’s an ego problem. I don’t care about anybody else’s envy. I don’t care if nobody wants to work for Delta. I made my points because the general consensus is that we are understaffed and that needs to be fixed. But if you say that the company is not part of that consensus, then I guess this whole topic is moot.
My point of asking to cite your sources was I have just as many anecdotes of guys leaving other airlines to come here.
And I think your mil data is flawed, or extremely stovepiped to a single community, perhaps.
Maybe all the mil guys you know based at Luke AFB want to fly American vs. Delta (as an example), that would make sense with Phoenix.
I’m not saying you’re wrong per se, just that I think you’re making assumptions using a very small amount of data.
The general consensus among mil guys I know leaving is that the reasons picking one company over another are the same as they have always been. Hub locations is still the driving factor.
We are still a sexy pick to a lot of potential hires. How long that lasts is the big question…

FWIW, I know a guy with over two years seniority who lives in SLC, leave for FedEx. Among many other similar stories. But again, no need to trade anecdotes. I just think Delta is teed up to be much more of a pilot exporter than importer (of new hires between other legacies/cargo)

I think that is indeed the big question. Word is getting out about our NB trips being hit garbage. I’ve even seen on some other social media that when asked, guys on property are advising candidates not to come here to avoid that low QOL. What’s the extent of that, who knows. But I do think the point that being a sexy pick having an expiration date is true.

Lol there will always be people saying don't come to X airline, it's as inevitable as an airline pilot buying white new balance shoes. Meanwhile an early 40s squadron mate just left AAL after 2 years to come to DAL and passed on his UPS interview invite. Many of my squadron mates only applied at DAL. I think they understand that you'll make a dang fine living at any one of the carriers and being the international WB Captain isn't necessarily the end-all/be-all of a career. Most dudes just don't want to commute for an entire career, which your anecdote aside, is more than likely the reason most of the guys that move airlines. Getting multiple CJOs used to be rare, now it seems to be a norm...pilots just have more options now.

I might be out of touch with the rest of the industry but it doesn't seem like our pay is all that good either. I know some people at Atlas type places and they all think I make a ton of money but we compared W2's and they make more money than me for similar seniority. I understand the 401 match is better here but without a bonus I don't see Delta as anything more than average.
