Am I missing something here?

I *think* the ref to rolling over is from MBCBP to 401k, which would be tax free. Gives the advantage of changing investment allocations while keeping the funds tax free until you start actually pulling from retirement accounts later.

And I *think* you have to do something with it when you retire or it buys you an annuity. Just ‘making withdrawals’ is not an option.

This is correct. Roll it into your IRA or purchace an annuity. It doesn't live as a separate tax-advantaged account past retirement.

The options for taking the MBCBP balance are:
1. a lump sum,
2. a rollover to a qualified retirement account (401(k) or IRA), or
3. an annuity

If you roll it into a qualified retirement account, you can decide when and how much you want to withdraw, thus allowing you to "just make withdrawals". Note: if a pilot does NOTHING, 90 days after retirement, the MBCBP will be annuitized per the plan
document (not the best option).

Trying to book my PS to/from CQ and all of the aisle and window seats in the front half of the aircraft are not selectable. Is this some new morale lowering policy recently put into place or has it always been this way? Let me tell you this really makes me want to go the extra mile for my employer - not! So no Economy comfort until 24 hours prior, now no window and aisle seats unless you are the back half of the aircraft.

Oh yeah, it wouldn't let me select any of the reclining emergency exit row seats either. Who the Hell is instituting these polices - Did DAL hire Ebenezeer Scrooge himslef?

Two questions - is this IAW the PWA? DO these restrictions loosen as the flight date comes closer - currently 1 month out?

Because it's just postive space to training, the PWA doesn't address seating requirements (it's only for deadheads on a rotation that seating is specified) so we get whatever the company decides. More seats, including Comfort and exit rows, are available 24 hours prior, which blows.

It's been this way for a decade. The other seats, if there are any, become unblocked 24 hours prior

I remember Comfort plus being blocked out until 24 hours prior, but I don't recall every aisle and window seat in the front of the AC being blocked off. I guess I never noticed.
