I don’t think ED would mind if I flew my Chinook in to ATL for my commute and parked it on the ramp next to headquarters and the museum, blowing crap all over the place , shut down , secure and then get an Uber or take the Delta Employee shuttle to the terminal would he ?😂

Hawthorne airport, KHHR. It's a block and half from the green line train, one stop and a quick bus ride, you're at LAX terminal. It's $30/night to park ($15 for airline crew members) and they waive the ramp fee if you buy 10 gal of gas. It's not cheap but very convenient. I used to have a tiedown at HHR and park my airport car on the tiedown, but it turns out to be way cheaper and faster to use the FBO.
It takes me north of 5hrs to drive to LAX with light traffic and just over an hour to fly my plane. I can drive to the closest airport that serves LAX (no Delta or connection service) but I think they’re down to 2 flights a day; there were like 10 or more when we moved here.
Expensive, yes, but I much prefer to suck on my cup of coffee for an hour on autopilot than deal with the idiots on the road for 5 or more hours each way.

As it is, pre-COVID I was sitting reserve at home knowing under the old (now new again) commute rules if I didn't get on the late RJ to NYC, I had to drive and there was maybe one day a week where the reduced flights (Saturday I think) there was 2-3 hours where a min call = just drive. (5-7 hours to NYC airports for me)
Positive space/no backup COVID I had a 2-3 hour "no mans land" window, but never had to drive it.
Now? We've lost our 50 seater service, used to have 13 flights a day on DL RJs... Plus another 7 or so between American and United. Now? 8 on a good day. And nothing after 1645. I was entertaining the GA commute again.

It’s not the pilots who will have issues. It’s the thousands of FA’s who are mostly junior and many still commute who’ve never had to ever be a real commuter. And from my inside information many if not all that have been hired in last few years have Family Leave… so they can call in sick w/out repercussions. Which means they can call out on a missed commute without issue.

My first commute post PS was pleasant. Had the jumpseat. Gate agents were very polite and told me to expect a seat. They cleared standbys before boarding and listed me NRSA when they knew there were seats and got me an exit row. Not used to that service in South Florida. I’m sure it’ll go back to what it was, but it made the transition smooth today.

This POS airline always has some “pay load optimization” problem. It’s not even worth it for me to try and JS. I’d rather buy a ticket on UA, or NK. I think other airlines should start pulling DLs agreements. It’s BS
