Nonstop Negotiations
#242
I second “noworkallplay”. I dropped in on the forum to see if I could learn some intel on negotiations. Amazed to learn that PB days is the focus of concern here on the negotiation update thread.
I guess the major contributors here must be the 20 percent of the list sitting reserve this week. My guess is the 80 percent on a regular line aren’t thinking about PB days. I know it’s been over ten years since I thought about them! Certainly not the first section of a TA I am going to read.
How about gouge on compensation, training pay, vacation days and retirement contributions? Now that’s the areas I’m interested in.

I respectfully suggest you widen your aperture, and consider that.

A negotiations thread that has morphed into a lecture on how to do GS flying? Helping to keep the operation running at a high pace when you have leverage to say NO and creat reason to get a contract done.
Is anyone else seeing the problem with this thinking? Is this thought process the reason DL management feels no need to get a contract wrapped up?
Companies don’t resolve contracts until they are forced to. Bailing the company out bc it pays a premium pay doesn’t send a message that you are demanding a new contract.

He’s made it clear in his troll posts that the only thing that matters to him is the number value on the pay scale and vacation/training. That’s it. This guy is the guy who management would love. Can be bought off all the great QOL items that make this job great for a dangling carrot of a pay scale. Sad really …

This is how the stockholm syndrome works. Next they will give on 150% and 200% is accepted, along with the concesion they are really seeking. Just remember you're not in stockholm, you're in the Delta PWA which is better, and the default. This is how you get statements of "cost neutral" post agreement.

Is there any possibility that the PB day threat is a distraction on scope?
Between this leak, and a rumor from a union member, the global scope agreement is to basically have no scope on international flying. In exchange we’ll have some mechanism that a certain number of pilots will be paid as widebody pilots depending on the number of widebody pilots at peers.
Isn’t this just a mechanism to shrink our pilot group? If all of our international flying can be outsourced how many pilots can we eliminate when the 767s get parked?
PB days and GS on reserve will no doubt be potential NO vote issues for me but I’m wondering if we’re being distracted from the scope stuff. They’ll keep us focused on PB days then give it back while pulling one on us on scope.
