Yes. That’s the problem. The RLA is overseen and administered by U.S. Department of Labor,…..by and through federal mediators,….. who answer to the U.S. Secretary of Labor,……. who was formerly the mayor of Boston and a Massachusetts state representative and who likely has future political ambitions AND the need for political campaign funding.
While I hate the idea of unions funneling money to politicians, (especially those with a “D” after their names), it might be smart for DAPLA to test the waters and see if the Honorable Marty Walsh, U.S. Secretary of Labor, is in the mood to accept campaign funds from the unionized pilots of Delta Airlines and repay the favor by leaning on his federal mediator(s). Just a thought. You have probably seen the news…the “ labor supporting “ dems won’t even let the railroads strike. It’s rigged and no amount of money is going to fix that. |
All this chatter about an AIP next week but…… WTH happened to the scope AIP? I though one of the main selling points was that we vote on it separate from a general TA so we don’t have the whole “scope sold for pay rates” discussion. If we get an AIP next week do we still vote separately?

We need to vote on the Scope TA before the contract. Because if we lock the contract and don’t like the Scope TA and vote No for that, we are stuck with whatever “gains” we negotiated apart from the Scope TA. |

Besides, these forums are dreadfully boring any other time. |
All this talk about retro will make the company not drag their feet on a deal.
ummm….. We got retro for TA2……and it didn’t stop delta from immediately filing for mediation and dragging this deal out. |

With the speed of the scope AIP, IF (huge IF) a PWA AIP is reached by EOY, we probably won’t vote on a TA until Memorial Day! |

Two words. Escalator clause. If the environment was ever right, it’s now. Que the TVM and retro arguments. Fix this now and retro and company foot dragging becomes moo. This needs to be done or we are doomed to continue the cycle.
