Passengers love the 787. I have two friends who are road warriors and they go out of there way to book it. Instead we will have our largest widebody fleet being a warmed over 45 year old design.

Growth??? We sell 18 777s and have plans to retire all 767s and possibly older 330s. I don't see much growth. More like a replacement plan. Plus the ratio of WB to NB keeps getting worst.

yeah. While I like the idea of a tray table on a 8+ hour flight, I do think the pax experience on our 330s (at least the -300) is lacking compared to the 787 or 777. The 787 can be a wash because airlines configure them in a 3-3-3 and that leaves them with a smaller seat than our 2-4-2 on our a330s.

We order aircraft in smaller batches and closer in than most airlines. We have significant widebody growth planned the next few years. Even with this order United has no widebody growth planned in that time frame. They are however absolutely going to hammer the domestic market with growth.

not sure how much they are growth and how much they will be replacing our recently retired 777s. I’m sure they will also replace some of our 767s as well.

We have no plans to retire any widebodies prior to 2027 that I am aware of. If there is a economic downturn I suspect the 767’s will leave sooner but that’s not the plan. We have 60 widebodies on order coming quickly and will almost certainly announce a order for 20 additional airframes larger than any United has on order plus I hear some additional NEO’s may be in that order.
The plan I hear is to have 93 A330’s.

I thought the 339s were replacing some 763s. Not sure on that though, you may very well be right.

I think we parked 35 or so WBs during the pandemic (18 777s and I think around 16 763s) I’m not aware of UA parking any.

UA has also been taking growth 787s during the last few years without parking any aircraft.

I hope we get the WB growth as you describe, that would be great! I also hope we try to compete domestically with UA, as they clearly want to be a bigger player in that market.

This is an easier exercise with more planes paying top rate:

Delta 2030
A350 44
A339 37
A330 42
767-400 21

144 Top Paying WB Aircraft. 164 with 20 A350-1000 order
