Basically...
Pull up the United route map and then pull up our route map and be ready to cry.
Outside of the 30x CDG/AMS/LHR flights each day we're nothing but a regional airline that feeds AF/KL/VS.

Ok, the humidifier aside, what real difference does a flight under 3 hours make??? Thats not the primary use of the 350 anyway. There are obvious plusses and minuses to both the 787 and 350. I would say it comes down to individual preference more than anything.

We really arent that big in LHR compared to UA and AA which both operate more than 20 flights each; UA even without a JV partner there, imagine that!!! And despite LHR being a premier intl destination that almost all other carriers put their flagship aircraft on, we service it primarily with refurbished 764's. Never understood that.

Which provides more long term stability and (potential) job security for the next 30 years? I let airline execs be airline execs, and focus on being a slow methodical checklist read-do kind of guy

No, it provides bigger profits by funneling our passengers to other airlines that have much lower labor costs. While this surely is great for profit sharing, it isn't all that great for trip quality as we've seen most TATL routes become seasonal only and instead of flying ATL-VCE in February we're flying ATL-SRQ and driving to Venice instead...

It may but for how long??? Im sure there will come a time when our HVC's will get tired of transiting our European partner hubs just to get where they need to go. There are some obvious exceptions to this with smaller, second tier cities. But look at the mess AMS went through this summer. CDG is hardly anyone's favorite airport for connections and the same can be said for LHR. There is a reason the market has fragmented to A350s and 787s, flying longer, direct routings over stuffing 400 pax into a large jet (A380) to fly hub to hub. Also, looking at UA's revenue vs ours, their numbers are very close. We do better on the profit side mostly because of AMEX and Trainor. But they do make money flying pax to a lot of direct destinations.

Correct. The 787 would be a logical replacement for both of this fleets. We need both manufacturers at DL. It’s better for the airline in the long run.

An all Airbus fleet would help given the 787s love of being grounded and potential 737 Max 10 certification fail.
