A pilot can request to have their schedule blocked for cause with the approval of ALPA administration.

I am truly sorry if have hurt your feeling on the subject, and I do mean that... it was not meant to offend. However like several words in today's lexicon (hero, scab, any number of touchy feely words, etc) they lose their meaning when bandied about without proper purpose of intent. I was not offended, and God forbid any of us should ever have to endure what a strike means. Should that day ever occur, I hope you don't find what that kind of person is.

Well, I'd certainly like to know the trick to flat out dropping an entire month when I can't swap or drop with most days in the black. APD and IVD are limited use so I know that's not the answer. Combine these facts with a blocked schedule and color me suspicious.

And let's be honest about all these ACE reports she "got others paid." It's because she's watching out to see if she can get the pay, and it worked out otherwise. I know it because I've done it!

All that being said, the I agree the harassment piece is unacceptable, but the solution wasn't properly applied in my opinion.

Instead, the past year has created a culture at scheduling where the PWA can be disregarded as long as the company buys its way out. This is particularly dangerous at a time when so many new schedulers are just starting out. They’re learning that disregarding the coverage ladder and invoking 23.M.7 is acceptable as a routine practice.

The PWA needs to be strengthened to increase the financial penalties for invoking 23.M.7 as well.
THIS^^^ is the proper answer. What is the saying... don't hate the player, hate the game?

Those that are mad at the person that was able to adjust his/her schedule in the manner described above are 180 out. The ones you should be angry with are the ones that harass or threaten said player.

Appreciate that and I hope I don’t as well. I hope none of us do.

Look at her schedule as awarded by PBS. Make note of every trip awarded to her. Go into rotation history under the open time menu, input every rotation, and see how she got rid of it. You might have to do this multiple times throughout the month. My guess is she bids short trips on weekdays that either have high credit or desirable layovers and posts them to the swap board.

what many fail to mention is you need some seniority and luck as well to drop your schedule. First pcs run I can typically dump the trips I need. Not all, but most. IVD APD while great are exactly what you said.. limited.

This is why I laugh about everyone being upset about the AIP that could greatly improve our qol and staffing issues for the better. “Green slips are going away blah blah blah”.

This 100%. From here on out schedulers will be trained to believe that the PWA doesn’t matter. It’s become part of their culture.

It will be single pay, but you should get paid for it. I have successfully done this before.
This. It’s worked for me twice. But still ACE it; someone else might get paid too.

Not accurate. All of the players are at fault. Pilots shouldn’t be violating the system. Schedulers shouldn’t be violating the system. Why have a contract and get mad when the company violates it if we as individuals are just going to go around it as well?
