It’s a paper cup with what hopefully will be a better fitting lid than the old garbage we’ve been dumping coffee on ourselves with. I don’t care the reasoning, I’m not upset unless the new lid leaks as much as the old one.

Again, I don’t care about the cups either way. They could have simply said, “Due to cost and streamlining catering, we are making this change, and it’s also more environmentally friendly too!” But they didn’t. There was an opportunity to virtue signal (about 8x in one ‘article’), and they poured it on super thick. That’s the rub, IMO. Maybe it’s my confirmation bias, but you have to admit they got a lot of buzzwords in to that thing.
I think the fact that sustainable practices and environmentalism are considered liberal/woke/whatever says a lot more about modern conservativism than about sustainable practices and environmentalism.

https://www.amazon.com/Framo-Lightwe...h+lids&sr=8-13

100 pack of lids and cups for .26 cents apiece.

Going to enjoy this. (Van driver is going to take a hit though. "Do you have change for a dollar? I need .74 cents back." If I'm feeling generous after a green slip, I'll give him 3 quarters and tell him to keep the .01 cent change. He's going to take one for the anti-environmental team. Nobody asked him. That's kind of the point. Reusing dirty cups is nasty and non-hygienic.)

No, I just like hot coffee in a clean cup and I'm willing to pay that huge premium for it.

It's a legal product.

For now.

Far more worried about at least a dozen other potential health risks in this business. Solar radiation exposure at altitude for cancer, staring at CRTs for vision, loud noise exposure for hearing loss, bad air on the ramp for lungs, terrible sleep patterns, diet choice options, inadequate cooling and darkness in hotel rooms, exposure to the general public by the thousands in planes and terminals, major airports who refuse to install touch less flushing toilets, etc.

A random hydrocarbon going down my gullet doesn’t even ping the radar.

I mean, I wear hearing protection and sunscreen. You can do things to mitigate health effects. It's not woke to do that. And it's not all or nothing. You can limit risk without eliminating all of it.

This. Environmentalism and conservatism (conservationist) have successfully joined forces to protect lands with common interest for hunting/open space/etc. in many cases. Helping the environment, sporting interests and our general well being shouldn't always be 'political'.
