I bid specifically to work it and am easily senior enough not to. Might as well get an extra 5:15

To answer my own question it doesn’t look like any of the pilots senior to me in my seat bid to pick up an extra 5:15 on 5/29.
the 5:15 also gets tacked onto GS. They might be waiting for that.

I'm about 60-ish percent and still ended up getting a trip as coverage during memorial day weekend. Luckily it was one I had bid for anyway so I'm happy with how it worked out

Can you explain how it's considered coverage if you had bid for it?

Because even if he didn’t bid for it, he was already going to get it. Wanting it just made it not sting.

I referenced the PWA and am fairly certain the answer is no however, would any training events over a holiday such as Memorial Day be eligible for the extra pay?

The PWA section is pretty specific and references rotations only so again I’m guessing the answer is no. Just wondering if anyone has any intel that I’m missing.

I think holiday pay will make a difference on the minor holidays. I did the same as others for Memorial Day, grabbed a trip that would get me the extra 5:15. For Christmas or Thanksgiving, I won’t even fly for a greenslip. No amount of pay is worth being away from my family on those days. For Memorial Day? Who cares.

Ditto, but reduces the sting slightly.

tell me you never lost a loved one in service to the people and freedoms of this country without telling me you never lost a loved one in service to the people and freedoms of this country

I know that isn’t what you meant, but it comes off really callous and cold-hearted.
