Don't mind this nut. Yes, we still have some of these guys here, but they'll all be retired very soon. 95% of the Delta pilots you encounter are a joy to fly with.

Snowflakes are supposed to be original.

BTW, When you dispense "iron clad" recommendations about careers, you should preface it with your curriculum vitae. Most investors don't search out the fund manager with the worst performance..... same logic here.

If it makes you guys feel better, I think most of what both of you say should be ignored.

You cannot be serious. This is an internet chat board. 100% of what a person reads here is opinion.

You're really taking this way too seriously. Is arguing with people on the internet your whole life? How sad.

He asked for opinions. I gave him one.

Then you show up and perpetuate the old DB Delta pilot stereotype and chase him away.

Not really a good rumor until 2019. At that point they were setting up the base and hiring staff. Covid hit and it all went away. I would be willing to make you a wager that within the next 18 months a bid is posted to open the base.

The number of pilots who left JB to go to DL over the past 15 years: Dozens if not hundreds.

The number of DL pilots who left DL to go to JB: 0.

I know of 3 that stayed at JetBlue after being recalled at Delta post-furlough so technically >0.

Just a data point, not an argument. This is Abuse, Argument is the second door on the left.

What they really need to do is get rid of the RJs and upgauge everything to mainline, then continue to operate it virtually as an O and D hub.
A pilot domicile does't change the aircraft flow situation. They have the flying they have. Does that justify the other variables including staffing and hotel costs, etc to justify a base or not? That's really all it comes down to.

And while it will "rob from NYC" that's actually a needed blessing. Its not so much "robbing" as it is shifting. In the medium to long run it will reduce churn by somewhat slowing the rate that pilots bid out by opening a far more desireable base for *some* pilots. Any amount of pilots that it robs are merely shifted to a more stable base with lesser outflow.

Where pilots start and finish their trips has nothing to do with where they park planes at night.

Except that they've said the current traffic doesn't quite justify a base. So by logic, the traffic would have to increase to justify a base and BOS is full.

Also, regarding NYC, I'm not following how you think offering senior pilots "a more stable base" will make NYC more stable or easier to staff. Probably the only stable staffing in NYC right now are the pilots who live in PHL or BOS. Take BOS away and NYC is even harder to staff.
