[QUOTE=PilotWombat;3634443]I don't mean to hijack the thread, but it's similar and I don't think it deserves its own thead.

Has anyone used Brightline bags before for their flightkit? Did it live up to expectations? How is the quality? I don't care about the modular design, but I am a sucker for accessible pockets and I've yet to see something similar.

Had mine for over 8 years, really like it. I’ve worn out a back section, front section, and a handle. But, because of the modular design it was cheap and easy to fix the appropriate pieces.

The few times I’ve carried my own headset, it’s been a hassle though. Headset cases (A20 & clarity Aloft) don’t really fit well inside.

It's a bit too large for 737 optimum cockpit use. It will hold ONE Bose head clamp headset that many 737 pilots use, not two full sized ones.

Find I have to roll the seat full forward to put the bag in/out of the side cockpit bag slot. When you're commuting on a tiny CRJ, you might have to separate the bag in twain to fit in the overhead compartment. Heavy duty zipper makes it easy to splice together again.

Otherwise, I'd recommend. The carrying handle has a carved out space for the j-hook on your regular luggage. There's space in there for separate electronic devices (2 iPads and a kindle for me) in different pockets.

Takes a couple of trips to figure out what goes where, but after that, it's awesome.

Had a chance to look at one in person today. Good looking bag! Will likely be my replacement when all the screws finally come out of my 7 year old LW.

I'll offer my endorsement of Strongbags. Although, I do plan on switching to a B&R bags when my current strongbag carry on falls apart or when they hold a sale.

For extras, https://contrailbags.com/collections...ght-bag-bundle

I found out about Contrail bags by accident and I haven't felt the need to look for anything else. I fly with a 390 now and I have a 360 for GA adventures.

My hold up with the B&R would be the J-hook mechanism. Seems to fall out easily.

I have never had the hook system pop out or fall out ever.

That's good to know. The reviews on their website make it sound like they fall out all the time.

I had one a while ago (8-10-ish years ago IIRC) and it didn't fit wheels first in hardly any of our NB bins. The length worked theoretically, but the way it was shaped conflicted with the taper at the back of the bins.

Commuting or DHing, it caused a lot of grief and angst with FA's and just wasn't worth it and everytime it was on board it caused someone's bag to have to be checked that any other rollerboard wouldn't have. I gave it away to a SW friend. I otherwise liked the bag though.

Maybe the bins are all different now, but before I tried them again I'd want assurance that it fits wheels first in EVERY bin we have.

I’ve seen the same. When my bag is standing next to a strongbag, the SB is def taller. Not a huge strongbags fan, I bought the summit and the little flap to keep it over the handle was tearing within 3 months.
