It’s undoubtedly expensive, but I’ve been incredibly happy with the bag, especially after 10 years of LW use. There’s a sizable B&R discount through Delta Perks which takes a little bit of the sting away.

I looked into the discount after a guy I flew with had one, the price still isn’t pretty. The J-hook failed to hold his flight bag a few times during the 5 day and the wheels were loud. It sounded like when you go to Target and you unfortunately grab a cart with a loud dragging wheel. The entire store knows when you’re heading up isle 5. I can’t imagine buying that POS until they fix both those issues.

I suspect they’ve had a supplier issue with the wheels because my first set lasted years, but my replacement set recently lasted 6 months. Their customer service sent me another replacement set when I complained but I haven’t installed them yet.

as to the J-hook, I use the regular strap and leave it attached to my kit bag. I then just attach/detach it to the top attachment point on the suitcase each time.

Just need skate wheels with 8mm axle bolt. Got some off Amazon for $12. Smooth and silent. I like everything else about the B&R bag.

I’ve been looking for replacement wheel setup. Whats the correct size on the Amazon link? Is it, OD45xW18mm/1.77"x0.7".

Thanks!

I use these: Rip Stik Wheels
Completely changed the experience of owning the BR. I used the stock axle, but added a washer to each side of each wheel to take up the space. I also keep the strap attached to the handle of my flight bag.

70mmx24mm and used the original B&R bolts with the washers that came with the new wheels.

I may be a simpleton, and a cheap sob, but I have been pleased with my Travle Pro Flightcrew5. It is one $200 with the crew discount.

They seem to be on sale for the next day or two (10/30 and 31), about $50 less right now.

Has anyone used Brightline bags before for their flightkit? Did it live up to expectations? How is the quality? I don't care about the modular design, but I am a sucker for accessible pockets and I've yet to see something similar.

For a follow-up on this, I ended up buying the bag and I love it. It was expensive, boxy, and everyone gives you a raised eyebrow for it's size and the rainbow of zipper pulls. But for utility, it's perfect. Each of those cons (except the cost...) is its own pro. With the size and shape, they did their engineering properly because it fits like a glove under passenger seats. High quality material makes it bulletproof. With all the pockets, you have a perfectly sized place for everything you need and they're easy to find because of the zippers. The handle fits perfectly with the LuggageWorks hook. It even solidly holds my huge water bottle. Highly recommended, if anyone is thinking about buying one.
